22.01.2022 Wrap from friendly yesterday Murwillumbah Pink Panthers v Murwillumbah U11 Panthers The 28/1 saw the Murwillumbah Pink Panthers in their first match in the U11's competition vs Murwillumbah boys at Les Cave Oval.... The boys, who were a few players short got the formidable Chloes (Chloe C and Chloe D) to even the team numbers. With the boys batting first Dhara bowled a stunning opening over taking 1-4. The boys settled in well with Joonaton, Alec and Archie all finishing their 15 balls faced with a scoring shot. Sophie kept well to some fast bowling keeping the byes to a minimum in our first 10 overs. The girls bowled well and were attacking in the field with Lexi taking a great one handed catch as keeper and letting her brother know if he slipped up, she would be more than happy to get him out! Chloe C played some nice shots down the leg side and apparently Zoe wanted to remind her whose side she was really on by throwing the ball at her instead of the stumps! Chloe C got her revenge when bowling though! The boys finished with a total of 101 from their 20 overs. The girls opening pair of Sophie and Tia did well to get some runs on the board against some good bowling. Bree was the batting star getting a huge 26 runs off her 15 balls. Yashika held her own out there while Archie peppered her with some quick bowling. Brigid and Dhara had the hard task of getting a run a ball for the last 3 overs to win and the boys packed leg side fielding approach-kept them to minimum runs, that is when the boys weren't arguing with each other about the score. Chloe D (playing for the boys team) got a great run out and although she took one of our wickets it was great to see her playing competitively, we cant wait to have her back on our side next week. Brigid and Dhara both pushed hard and sacrificed some wickets in the hope of getting the Pink Panthers to a win but unfortunately our final score of 93 was just 9 runs short of our target. Our player of the match was captain Bree who got 26 with the bat and with the ball got 0-9 from her 3 overs. Great work girls and boys, it was a great game and hopefully the first of many more for the mighty Murwillumbah Pink Panthers moving forward. The girls (Pink Panthers) take on Pottsville Purple U11s next week at Black Rocks. The boys (Panther U11s) are playing Cudgen Hornets next week at Les Cave Oval.

John Rabjones, Les Cave and Barrie Smith ovals have all had their boundary lines painted. Look out for our latest innovation - the little white flag - on Rabs and Leso ovals boundaries. The intention is to give the precinct a little more of a boutique cricket atmosphere. Feedback welcome. Games tomorrow are:... 19.01.2022 Mixed bag of results for the club from round 6 this last weekend. Second grade had a bye. Here's what we've got from coaches and captains: 3rd grade Panthers won the toss and sent Terranora Gold in. They were bowled out for 210 in the 32nd over. Best bowlers were Jacques Peenz 2/19 from 5 overs and Luke Carrol with 2/26 from 4 overs. Panthers in the chase fell short by 33 runs, being bowled out for 178. Junior Luke Carroll scored his first ever half century with an inspirati...onal 67, which also made Andy Roo Stew $50 poorer. There was also a 50 run partnership to father/ son combination Ben (20) & Jacques Peenz (29). U14s The Panthers won the toss against Mullumbimby Brunswick Gold and put in a pleasing bowling and fielding effort, bowling them out for 116. It proved 8 runs too much however, with Murwillumbah on 108 after 24 overs. The boys struggled to adapt to a slow turf wicket and outfield at Brunswick Heads. Best bowlers were Kwinn Wolf with 1-3 from 2 overs and Hugo Portus with 1-4 from 2 overs. Best with the bat were Kwinn Wolf with 40 from 37 balls and Billy Smith with 17 from 37. U12 Roar Another nail biter for the Roar on Saturday at Seabreeze against Pottsville Purple! The Roars Captain Charlie Leslighter won the toss and chose to bowl keeping Potty to 121 with some tidy bowling from both Bailey Newell 1/6 off 3 and Max Palmer 2/21 off 3. Heading out to bat the Roar got off to a steady start and came home really strong to pass Potty's total with only 1 wicket in hand and 12 balls remaining. Some solid batting from Jack Murray with 23 off 25 not out and Bailey Newell with 19 off 29 not out to help the Roar safely to victory. U12 Panthers Another win for the Murbah Panther U12's scoring an impressive 7/183 while restricting East Tintenbar - Ballina Fire to 4/131. Dougall Hughes put in a career best performance notching up a fantastic 71 not out off just 47 balls while it was business as usual for George Fisher as he piled on 60 not out from 40 balls and now has a season average of a remarkable 208!! The best of the bowlers were Toby Nielsen with a tidy spell of 1/9 & Sam Hynes also bowled well, snaring 1/14. Another very good win by this team who continue to improve each week. You can see all team results, player stats and the team draws on the MyCricket page on the Murwillumbah Cricket website here: https://www.murwillumbahcricket.com/mycricket

07.01.2022 Ballina Under 13 LJ Hooker Cricket Carnival Update 23.12.2020 Dear Carnival Attendees,... We have made the difficult decision today to cancel the 31st Annual Ballina Under 13 LJ Hooker Cricket Carnival from January 4th 8th, 2021. We were looking forward to hosting this event however, the recent COVID situation presented challenges for teams in hotspot areas who were not able to attend. We decided to delay our decision as we looked towards holding a revised draw with 8-10 teams however, with daily uncertainty and the threat of constant changes, we were left with no other choice. The safety of all players, coaches and supporters is our priority. While play may have been suspended in Ballina in January, there’s still plenty of local cricket left in the season in the new year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all teams who have supported the carnival. It was always challenging this year and everything was ready to go, so this was a huge kick in the guts as we love cricket and we love seeing kids enjoy this great game. We know that many memories were created on the field and off the field in past carnivals, with many teams exploring the local area. And we know one day, we will enter the field of play again. Until then, we wish you all a Happy Christmas and best wishes for a safe and healthy New Year. Warm Regards, Geoff & Chen Carnival Co-ordinators P.S In a few weeks, we will set up a Google form so that all clubs involved can register their bank details so that we can issue refunds in the new year. We appreciate your patience.
