09.01.2022 World Suicide Prevention Day is coming up on Thursday and at the Guild, we want to open up the conversation around suicide, provide resources for our students who may need help, and remind people to reach out to loved ones who might be struggling. Suicide doesnt just affect people with mental illness, it can affect your friend who feels overwhelmed with assignments but doesnt want to look like they are struggling, it could be your brother who doesnt feel like he fits in an...ywhere and cant talk to anyone about it. You too could have suicidal thoughts one day and feel like you have no one to turn to for support. That one conversation could save someones life. You will never know the effect a friendly face or a familiar voice could have on someones day. We are also very lucky to have the amazing Lifeline in Australia who are there to talk or even text 24/7, for Crisis Support contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 (24/7) or via text nightly (6pm-midnight AEDT) on 0477 13 11 14

03.01.2022 Looking for something amazing to do this weekend? As part of the CBD Activation Plan, Murdoch Uni have the upcoming Startup Weekend #15 scheduled for Friday the 28th August through to the evening of the Sunday 30th of August. Startup Weekend is a fast-paced, non-competitive hackathon aimed at teaching people the foundations of building a startup. With people from all backgrounds and experiences forming teams on Friday night, theyre then faced with 54 hours of hustling, piv...oting and pitching to get a business ready by the Sunday evening. Through the weekend, teams are taught Lean startup principles to develop, test, validate and prototype an innovative business model. To conclude the weekend, all teams pitch back their progress and ideas to a panel of community judges, where prizes are shared and the winner is crowned. Startup Weekend is a paid event, however, for Murdoch, they have created a link/access code that will give access to Murdoch Alumni, Staff, Students and contacts an opportunity to attend and take part in the event at no cost.
