12.01.2022 Chamber of Commerce, Scott Cawley : The Miles and District Christmas Lights were judged last night. Ergon Energy and the local Chamber of Commerce who were the ...sponsors provided the judges. Judges thought there was maybe 50% more houses than last year with Xmas lights. It was amazing to see the creativity that people showed and the impact it has on brightening things up and helping make people happy, especially the kids. The winner of the Rural Section was Glen Ruediger with his amazing display that went from the highway letter box and the 3 Wise Kings, along his long driveway and then around the house. The display included music and a snow machine The winner of the Best Miles House Display was an amazing display of organised colours by Alyssa Mirabito and Jamal Hazard in Lawton Place, who are already researching for next year. No need to give street number as the light show soon tells you which one. There was a special Commendation award for the display by the Forsythe Family at 46 Constance Street. Judges were captivated by all of the Christmas themed figures especially the Santa appearing out of a chimney! The best Neighbourly Display was won by the Dawson St Crew at 58 & 60 Dawson St. This included Brendan and Nisa Young and Raelene & John Camm. The Best Business was won by the Delaforces at Surat Basin Mechanical and the 4x4 Outdoor Centre. Prize money will be given out to winners as soon as Santa finishes his other jobs. Thanks again to Ergon Energy Network for the financial sponsorship and let's hope by next year Covid is behind us.

Here's how to clear even the most stubborn grout grime: Step 1: Mix two tablespoons of baking soda with some water to create a paste.
