25.01.2022 Welcome Zane! Its been a year since first inception of the Murphys Law Junior Factory Team and we are thrilled to celebrate with the expansion of the Team to include 9-year old Zane Cosford #329 from Gladstone. Zane has been racing BMX for 5 years and loves it. Its fun, he gets to travel and he likes to jump big jumps on both his 20 and his Cruiser.... Zane aspires high and we would absolutely love to see him go all the way in BMX. Hes currently ranked a cool 7th in Queensland. If you cant find him between jumps at his home club (Harbour City BMX) track with his mate Harrison (pictured with Zane) who is also a member of the Murphys Law Junior Factor Team, youll find him in the pool, playing basketball or, dare we say it, playing video games with mates. We wish you all the best this year Zane.

25.01.2022 Underground coal mine workers in the Queenslands nine underground coal mines will have further protection against dangerous methane gas levels when regulations requiring more comprehensive monitoring of methane gas levels become effective on 6 January 2020. Creation of the role of Independent Commissioner for Resources Safety and Health replacing the existing Commissioner for Mines Safety and Health - with functions across all resources sectors, not just mining. Independent Work Health and Safety Prosecutor established to prosecute serious offences under the resources safety legislation. Tighter controls on mine dust levels. 25.01.2022 Keep an eye out and give space to the legends keeping you fed at home Delivering for food apps is low pay (tips really help out), dangerous (5 food delivery workers have died on Aussie roads in recent months) and they don't get access to WorkCover or other employee benefits.

22.01.2022 AnnouncingRegan Steindls retirement from the Murphys Law Junior Factory Team. 11 year-old Regan has been battling Type 1 diabetes since her diagnosis 18 months ago so she has every reason in the world for wanting to get out there and ride hard just for herself. Whilst we were obviously saddened to receive news of Regans decision to retire from the team, we applaud her strength of character & immense maturity in making the decision to defer her involvement in our Murphy...s Law Accident Lawyers Factory Team sponsorship for the present time. Naturally, well still be watching out for the #325 machine and celebrating all of Regans successes.

22.01.2022 Wishing you a safe, happy and drama free Christmas

21.01.2022 Check out Donnas LinkedIn article. It involves a recent case about a Dad who unsuccessfully attempted to revoke his Will and reinstate his previous one.

20.01.2022 We were proud to have sponsored the recent Sugar City Classic held by the Mackay Pioneer, Sarina and Walkerston BMX Clubs for the 3rd year running. The event was a great success and wonderful for North Queensland BMX. The Far North Queensland Zone took out our TK Zone Challenge trophy along with the $1,000 cash that was on offer. All members of our Murphys Law Factory Team competed and had a cracking meet with 3 for 3 on the podium. Well done boys! 17.01.2022 Cancer Council Fundingwere all over it! Well...not quite, but at least weve made a start. Who would have believed some of the culinary skills that were unleashed in support of Australias Biggest Morning Tea this morning, raising much-needed funds for those affected by cancer. We were so thankful to local businesses who dropped in and gave their support. Speaking of local businesses and cancer, wed love to introduce everyone to a unique local business, Spirit of Life,... a specialised lingerie boutique supplying mastectomy lingerie, breast prostheses and bras to women after breast cancer surgery. And dont forget to check out the swimwear while youre there. http://www.spiritoflifeboutique.com/ A special shout out to Paralegal, Krista, who cared enough to make our morning tea happen. Weve raised almost $250.00 so far with dollars still dribbling in from business neighbours who could not make it.

15.01.2022 Happy International Womens Day ladies! Our ladies celebrated by enjoying a fun morning tea made by the boys and wore suit pants to mark attitudinal changes within the legal profession. It is within the working life of our senior Solicitors that the acceptability of women wearing pants in a law firm has changed. On another note, we were very proud and heartened by pledges made by some of the Villanova College boys today about what they propose to do for the benefit of th...e women in their lives. We couldnt have said it better ourselves boys! I pledge to use my voice and stand up for what I know to be right. (Hamish Muir) I pledge to thank all mothers, and challenge those who undervalue the demanding role of caring. (Jack Dunbar) I pledge to challenge bias and inequality through challenging stereotypes. (Murphy Woodger) I pledge to challenge female stereotypes within the sporting community and ensure that equal opportunities are given to all. (Louis Henderson) I pledge to celebrate the achievements of the women in my life, (Declan Ries) I pledge to be alert to the disrespectful portrayal and objectification of women on social media and never to share or condone it and challenge those who do. (Isaak Collie) I pledge to call for gender balance in all forms of leadership in society. (Tadgh ONeill) I pledge to work for a community that treats women with respect and equality. (James Reid) I pledge to challenge the banter of everyday conversations in the playground and when hanging out with my mates that disrespect girls and women. 14.01.2022 Check out new Qld laws that affect you if you have an electric bike. In Queensland a bike, even a power-assisted bike, must use pedals as the primary source of power, with the motor only to be used to assist the rider to pedal. So....if your bike is really a moped that travels 30-40kms per hour without the use of pedals youre going to need a rethink. Its going to need to be registered for road use. So, with the exception of take off (up to 6kms per hour), the motor on the... bike cannot operate without you pedalling. The motor must then cut out at 25km/h. The rule changes came into effect on 28 June 2019. Happy motoring...oops, we mean, pedelling...

14.01.2022 Would you like to see countdown timers for green and red lights at traffic lights (like some pedestrian crossings have)? What impact do you think it might have on stress or road safety?

10.01.2022 In 2018, the economic cost of fatalities and hospitalised casualties as a result of crashes in Queensland was estimated at more than $5 billion... Queensland Health data shows almost 15 percent of hospital admissions are attributed to transport crashes across all age groups and account for almost 30,000 patient bed days each year.": Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey. $3 million over 4 years has been allocated by the Queensland Government for the implementation, employment and on-costs associated with the establishment of a new 5-member Road Safety Data Bureau bringing together Transport and Main Roads, QPS, the Motor Accident Insurance Commission and Queensland Healths Jamieson Trauma Institute. The team will analyse data collected to develop a clearer picture of the social, emotional and economic costs of road trauma.

09.01.2022 Loving the idea of leaving your car parked closer to the terminal, keeping the keys and nobody hitting it while youre away...

09.01.2022 This photo shows the real slog of justice. Its a pro bono file were currently running against a government body. Its a big decision to agree to act in these cases, particularly where its not an area weve practiced in for a while, and because they involve such a time commitment. But there are some cases you just cant walk away from and sleep at night. We are certainly not there yet. But these are a start!

09.01.2022 This story in the ABC online paper today relating to the sexual assault of an aged care resident really is quite shocking. In truth, how could it have been taken with such little seriousness? The report states that there were 547 cases of sexual abuse reported in residential aged care facilities last year!!! And thats considered to be understated because, according to Dr Catherine Barrett from the Power Project, nursing homes do not have to report sexual assaults if the perpetrator has a cognitive or mental impairment such as dementia. Wow...and double wow!

01.01.2022 The case discussed in Donnas recent article brings home like a train the enormous trauma this family has faced and the power of changing a name. The case doesnt say this but one might imagine that taking control of your name is a symbolic step in saying to a perpetrator - and to yourself perhaps - that the perpetrator no longer has the control over you that they previously enjoyed.

01.01.2022 Did you know...in 2020 an Australian judge ruled going to the loo at work is a legal right after a restaurant franchise had told workers they could only go on scheduled breaks! The bottom line is, when you gotta go, you gotta go!
