25.01.2022 ANZAC Day - Saturday 25 April 2020 - despite the circumstances preventing us from gathering together as a community - please pause and remember those who served our country during wartime and particularly remember those from Murrabit and District who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Community members are encouraged to lay a wreath/flowers at the cenotaph at anytime of the day ensuring that physical distancing measures are complied with. Please encourage local children to make up bunches of flowers/foliage or write little notes to attach to flowers or the front fence so that they can continue their ongoing connection with the meaning of ANZAC Day. Photographs will be taken at the end of the day and circulated. Lest We Forget...

21.01.2022 Hi there. We are aware that there has been a Victorian State Government announcement over the weekend which includes some easing of restrictions relating to COVID-19, travel and market stalls. As we were not expecting changes to occur until at least August, we are seeking further information about additional precautions required to resume a community market like ours and whether this is even possible at this time. Despite the easing of restrictions, the health and safety of our volunteers, community members, stallholders and staff will remain our number one priority. Keep an eye on this Facebook page for any further updates...

20.01.2022 As community volunteers we are disappointed that our April and Easter Markets, plus all our other major annual community events, have been cancelled due to the bans on mass gatherings in place around the Coronavirus situation. This has an enormous economic impact on our small town that was already struggling with drought. The health and safety of the volunteers, stallholders, visitors and wider community is however the number one priority at this time. We know these cancellat...ions impact many small businesses and community enterprises like our own. We also know that the Murrabit Country Market has a following of almost 5,000 and that we can use our online power to support local business at this time. If you are a regular stallholder at the Murrabit Market and would like to promote alternative means of selling your products please feel free to message our page, or add comments to this post, and we will promote you in whatever way we can.. #murrabitmarket #buylocal #bigthingshappeninsmalltowns See more

19.01.2022 We are disappointed to advise that the Murrabit Country Market will be postponed further due to the COVID-19 situation in Victoria and border closures. While our little farming community on the Victorian and New South Wales border was hopeful to be able to return to some form of normality by now, the committee representing the 14 volunteer community groups that host the Murrabit Market felt that there was no choice other than to cancel the next three markets and then reassess... the situation. Again, the health and safety of our volunteers, stallholders and wider community continue to be our number one priority. While we would hope to be back in November - to celebrate our 43rd anniversary - this will of course depend on the situation at the time. On behalf of our volunteers, we sincerely thank you for your understanding and patience at this time. To our wonderful stallholders, stay safe and please feel free to use our page to advertise. We will continue to reassess the situation and keep you updated via this Facebook page... See more

18.01.2022 New Edge Mobile Sharpening will return to the Murrabit Country Market on Saturday 5 December. Bring along your knives, scissors or tools to be sharpened. Drop them off to Dean at Site 229 (next to our Murrabit Men's Shed market stall) as you arrive and you can collect them after you have worked your way through the rest of the market! A handy tip to bring them safely to the site: place your knives in a tea towel, fold each end up, roll up tightly and place in a reusable bag. Knives and scissors $8 each, drill bits $2 each. Knife deal: sharpen 5 and the 6th one will be free! (Total $40 for 6 knives). Eftpos available. Dean said to give him a call on 0427 512 913 before the market to check what he can sharpen for you. Market times 8:30am to 12:30pm...

17.01.2022 The Murrabit Market will reopen on Saturday 5 December just in time for Christmas! Come along between 8:30am and 12:30pm to enjoy a shop at your favourite stalls - candles, soaps, preserves, honey, giftware, clothing, plants, fresh produce plus lots more. It’s now a COVIDSafe market so wear a mask, enter through a designated entrance, register your attendance, sanitise your hands, and keep your distance from others! Mixx1077 will be broadcast across the market site throughout the morning and community groups will be selling takeaway food. A gold coin on entry would be appreciated to help our little farming community recover. No live music, children activities or seated food service at this market but hoping these activities can resume in 2021. All stallholder bookings through the online booking form at: murrabit.com.au/market

14.01.2022 Note that the May 2020 Murrabit Country Market will not be occurring due to the coronavirus situation and ongoing restrictions in place. Follow this page for future updates...#StayHomeStaySafe #MurrabitMarket

13.01.2022 Hi there Murrabit Market lovers..please note that we are currently closed due to the ongoing restrictions in place relating to events...keep an eye on our page for any further updates...

10.01.2022 After careful consideration the community groups that host the Murrabit Country Market have made a decision to cancel the November 2020 market. This would have been our 43rd anniversary! While we are happy that markets can again reopen the requirements to do so are extremely prohibitive for a market of our size. Our stallholders also come from all over Victoria, NSW and SA and as a border community ourselves, we have some added complexities to deal with! We are however optimistic that over the next few weeks the active cases of COVID-19 in Victoria will decline so that we are in a position to re-open in some form for our December market...even if just for regional Victorians and Border Bubble residents...stay tuned...we will provide an update as soon as we are in a position to do so

09.01.2022 Just an update - the committee representing the 14 volunteer community groups that host the Murrabit Country Market will make a decision the evening of Monday 13 July as to ongoing postponement of the Murrabit Market. We are certainly in uncertain times and while we had been hoping to return to some form of normality by now, this may be some time off yet with the declining COVID situation in Victoria and now border closures. We will keep you updated via this Facebook page...

07.01.2022 A reminder to all Murrabit Market lovers out there that there is no October market. A decision will be made next week as to future cancellations. While we are happy that markets can again reopen the requirements to do so remain extremely prohibitive for a community event such as ours. As a NSW/Vic border community we have some added complexities to deal with! Its great however to see the active cases of COVID-19 coming down in Victoria and hopefully the downward trend continues..If you are visiting our Murray River region this weekend and looking for a market - the Swan Hill Farmers Market is on Sunday - we are sure they would love your visit

06.01.2022 Hi there Murrabit Market lovers. We know you have been waiting patiently for this announcement! After careful review and seeing how markets across Victoria are operating in a COVIDSafe way, a decision has been made to restart the Murrabit Country Market on Saturday 5 December 2020 providing the COVID-19 situation continues to improve and all relevant permits are obtained. A COVIDSafe Plan is currently being developed to ensure that the health and safety of all continues to be... the number one priority and to meet the Victorian Government directions for the operation of a market at this time. Victoria is now in week two of zero new cases and the state is down to only 4 active cases - these are likely to be recovered soon. This is very positive news after so many months of uncertainty. The December market decision is based on this trend continuing. We are fortunate to have such a large, open aired area available for our market at Murrabit and this allows the set up to be tweaked to meet the COVIDSafe requirements. The community groups involved in the market will be meeting regularly to monitor the situation and to develop the required COVIDSafe plans. The overall COVIDSafe Plan for the market will be made publicly available. As we are running entirely on 'volunteer' power while we get established again, it would greatly be appreciated if stallholders could complete the application form on our website: https://www.murrabit.com.au/market/ and for any questions to come through Facebook messenger or our email: [email protected]. We will get back to you as promptly as we can. We are also in the process of getting a template for market stallholders to assist those who may not already have a COVIDSafe Plan in place for their own operation as is required. As we move forward with our community level planning, we will put out regular updates on this Facebook page. Thank you again for your patience and we look forward to everyone working together so that we can host a COVIDSafe Murrabit Market just in time for Christmas! See more

05.01.2022 While we would love to welcome you back to our little country town, the committee representing the 14 volunteer community groups that host the Murrabit Country Market has this week made a decision that the Murrabit Country Market will remain closed. The health and safety of our volunteers, community members, stallholders and staff remain our number one priority. Despite the easing of restrictions, there are just too many unknowns and uncertainties at this point in time to resume our community market. We will of course continue to keep you updated via this Facebook page...

04.01.2022 Great to see quite a few stallholders setting up tonight in readiness for the January Murrabit Country Market. Hopefully the weather stays kind to us! While there have been swift changes with border closures, we are a COVIDSafe event with permits and plans in place - our COVIDSafe Plan is published on our website: https://www.murrabit.com.au/market/ We are on the Victorian side of the border so what this means is following some simple common sense rules to keep everyone safe... - remember to keep 1.5 metres between household groups, contactless hand sanitiser units will be in place at our entrances as well as pump bottle sanitisers at our stallholders, community food vendors and on the outside walls of all our toilet blocks. Regular cleaning will be undertaken. With masks, the current rule in Victoria is that you must carry a mask at all times. We are an outdoor market in a very large space and outdoors a mask is to be worn where physical distancing of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained. If you don't have a mask, we will have free masks available. Register your attendance using the Victorian government's QR Code displayed at our entrances and around our market site. Written registers will also be available - a name and contact number is all that's needed. Bring along your own reusable bags to fill with your shopping. All our community groups will be offering take away food and drinks - sorry we can't offer seated service within our hall at the moment but plenty of seats scattered throughout the market site. Ice-creams and baked potatoes also available. Live music broadcast by Jimmy Johnson. We are proudly a fully volunteer run event and our community volunteers will be working across the market site to make your visit as enjoyable and safe as possible during this time. Following on from changes to New South Wales residents crossing the New South Wales-Victoria border, the latest advice is that residents located in local government areas along the Murray River may continue to use their driver’s licence to cross the border.
