25.01.2022 Christmas Day Murray Haven Style: All the staff and volunteers who worked Christmas Day are to be congratulated for the super efforts. With 20 residents heading out to enjoy the day with family the care team did an amazing job getting everyone ready. The remaining residents spent lunch time with staff enjoying a decadent Christmas spread. Special mention must go out to the hospitality team in getting the meals prepared, the dining room set up and meals ready to distribute. We hope you enjoy the photos which showcase the day..

20.01.2022 Quite often the staff get asked about suitable clothing for their loved ones who are residents. Whilst we do not endorse any particular product this range is always very popular: https://www.petalbackclothing.com.au/ If you place an order we are happy for the delivery to be made directly to us - but please let us know so that we can keep an eye out for the delivery and tag the clothing with the residents name.

19.01.2022 Hi all... please see an extract from advice just received from NSW health... In short, visits can recommence at Murray Haven from 9.00am Thursday 24th December and any families planning to have their loved ones home for Christmas Day can do so. Until at least 11.59pm on Wednesday 30 December 2030 there are no restrictions on people from regional NSW visiting residents in regional facilities. However we must:... Exclude staff and visitors who: Have been in any of the red zone locations. These people must self-isolate and get tested immediately Have a fever (37. 5C or higher) or symptoms of COVID-19 (acute blocked nose congestion has been added to the list of symptoms) Are a close contact of a person with confirmed COVID-19 and are within their self-isolation period Live in a household with a person who is identified as a close contact of a person with confirmed COVID-19. Thanks all for ongoing patience Gary Kairn CEO

19.01.2022 UPDATED VISITOR POLICY: There will be an updated policy for visits issued this week with an effective start of Monday 2nd November. It will include options for residents to leave the facility if accompanied and will also encourage more visits to take place in the garden areas at Murray Haven. With better weather upon us we can make some steps in this direction. Visitors will still need to satisfy entry requirements to NSW Aged Care facilities. Thank you Gary Kairn CEO

17.01.2022 On Friday the 7th of May we celebrated an early Mothers day, with a delicious High tea lunch , followed by the rocking tunes of John Doyle . We would like to extend a huge THANK-YOU to the Ladies auxiliary who catered this event, providing an array of delicious treats and the Barham Hotels - Phil and Carol who donated Pimms which was enjoyed by all.

15.01.2022 A reflection of our dedicated team at Murray Haven Homes. We are very proud of everyone who got us this far. Thank you.

14.01.2022 Murray Haven Homes are continuing to follow guidelines set by the Department of Aging, NSW Health and Vic Department of Health in keeping our residents, staff and families safe. As you may be aware, we have had residents tested for COVID and influenza. All tests have been returned as negative. There has also been voluntary testing by some staff who have displayed cold like symptoms. These tests back date to the beginning of the pandemic. In each case the tests have been ...negative. We will continue this testing regime should there be any sign of illness. We also have strict hygiene processes in place for staff, visitors and any person entering the facility. The operation of the facility in the border bubble situation is difficult for all concerned. There is limitation on visitors, access by families and volunteers is difficult and staff are continually in need of being aware of rules. Plus, for our Victorian based staff there is the added layer of permits that need to be applied for and adhered to. There is no end in sight for this pandemic, but we will continue to keep families and the community up to date with what we are doing. You can be assured that the health, welfare and lifestyle of our residents is paramount to what we are doing. If anyone needs any clarification on this topic, I can be contacted during business hours. Gary Kairn

10.01.2022 MURRAY HAVEN UPDATE: We have appointed a new Care Manager to provide the clinical leadership and ensure that quality care is provided for your family member who calls Murray Haven home. Marrianne Collicoat has in excess of 20 years’ experience in Aged Care and comes to us from Bendigo. She is familiar with the Barham region having camped along the Murray between Torrumbarry and Murrabit over numerous years. From a professional perspective Marrianne is a Registered Nurs...e and is looking forward to the challenge that Murray Haven will provide. We are pleased to have her as part of the team and I look forward to her meeting each of you over time, whether it be personally or over the phone. In other news, I was hopeful that the Victorian Government may have relaxed some of the COVID-19 rules that they have in place. This could have then influenced Health NSW to do the same in relation to our border situation. Whilst I am hopeful that there will be changes announced soon, we are still under the same level of restrictions that allows for us to have visitors in a very controlled situation. Unfortunately, our Victorian families are still not able to visit which I know causes many of you a great deal of frustration. All visits are still conducted in our visitor room. We do this as an extra layer of protection for all residents to minimise the number of people moving throughout the facility. All visitors are still required to be temperature checked and have their details recorded upon arrival. Our staff are also required to do the same, as well as wear face masks whilst in the facility. Whilst the slow reduction in case numbers is encouraging, we still must remain vigilant and ensure that we maintain the protocols that have served us well so far. Please feel free to contact me if you require any additional information. Kind Regards Gary Kairn CEO

10.01.2022 COVID-19 Update: Hi all This is the latest advice from NSW Health, plus some additional information from the website to address some of the questions being asked.... NSW Health advice for residential aged care facilities regarding visitors from Victoria has changed. From 12.01am 23 November 2020 Victorian residents can visit NSW residential aged care facilities subject to usual screening processes. Key points from the advice are to: Exclude staff and visitors who: o have a fever (37.5C or higher) or symptoms of COVID-19 o have in the last 14 days been identified as a close contact of a COVID-19 case o have in the last 14 days been in any of the locations on the self-isolate and get tested immediately list, at the times and dates listed o have in the last 14 days been in any of the locations on the monitor for symptoms list, at the times and dates listed except where noted otherwise o have in the last 14 days been in a location of interest in New Zealand o on or after 7 November 2020 have been in a contact tracing location in South Australia. Victorian residents can visit residential aged care facilities in NSW from 23 November 2020. Use extra precaution for visitors and staff in or from areas with increased testing (Liverpool LGA and Wingecarribee LGA ) Visit the NSW COVID-19 website at least daily for updates on areas of active community transmission Facilities are asked to: Record every visitor's name and contact details, electronically where possible Ensure children are closely supervised Ask visitors to undertake hand hygiene on entering and leaving the facility, and on entering and leaving the resident's room (or designated visiting area) Encourage visitors to remain within the resident's room, or go to a designated outdoor area or alternative room where the resident and their visitors can keep apart from other residents Allow no more than two visitors per resident at a time this does not mean only the same two people can ever visit a resident The second dot point reads that children, if closely supervised can visit in a facility. Thanks all Gary Kairn CEO

10.01.2022 Please note the following advice from Murrumbidgee Health. At Murray Haven we continue to monitor advice but our best line of protection is our families and visitors ensuring that they follow the rules. Thank you all. Gary Kairn CEO

09.01.2022 Fantastic recognition for all the team. Down to the final four....

09.01.2022 Prime super aged care employer of the year.... Murray Haven Homes....

08.01.2022 For the first time Murray Haven celebrated World gratitude day. The idea first came to fruition in 1965 in Hawaii. It was decided it would be a great idea to formally express gratitude and appreciation for the many wonderful things found in the world. At these present times I would have to agree what a wonderful concept. The residents were all excited to express their gratitude and arrrived at the idea of placing the video on to the Facebook Page. Every single resident was grateful for something that was free. Lets value our friendships, family and be kind to one another..

05.01.2022 Please enjoy the video that was prepared to showcase our nomination for the Prime Super awards.

05.01.2022 Murray Haven has been working behind the scenes on our new website. Check out www.mhh.org.au for all our news and information. A big shout out of thanks to the staff member who made this possible!

05.01.2022 http://bit.ly/NSWRACA20_PeoplesChoice Its still not too late to vote in the peoples choice award. Lets make Murray Haven a winner!

04.01.2022 MURRAY HAVEN VISITS: NSW Health have issued an update in visit policy which will now allow residents to have visitors who reside in the Border Region of Victoria. All Visitors are still required to sign in and record their contact details and complete a declaration of health and travel and must hold a current flu vaccination. As spring arrives MHH Management are looking at updating the visit policy and times and will update families as soon as this is in place. Even tho...ugh this may be seen as a relaxation all people must remain vigilant in preventing the spread of COVID-19. Relaxed restrictions in Victoria mean more travel within the state and more people coming to the border regions - although the border permit system remains. People need to be aware of the basics - hand hygiene, get tested if you have any symptoms, isolate if unwell and limit travel where possible. Thank you all for your cooperation Gary Kairn

02.01.2022 RACF VISITOR UPDATES: NSW Health today (15/12/2020) have rescinded the public health order. As a result of this the two person rule for residents has been abolished. Visitors still need to check in and answer questions and cannot be in common areas in the facility. HOWEVER, we are now able to host events for visitors including the choir but each activity will be assessed on its own merits. Please be aware that the three rules relating to hand hygiene, staying away if unwell and social distancing are proven measures against COVID -19. It has been a long road and everyone is to be thanked for your patience and diligence. There have been a few rough tracks in the road and most likely a few still to come but it is reassuring that we can head into the festive season with some good news. Kind regards Gary

02.01.2022 Please be advised the Murray Haven Homes facility is in temporary lock-down, due to the recent COVID case reported in Cohuna, Victoria. As per the NSW Health guidelines - visitors are unable to attend the facility until further notice from Murray Haven Homes.

01.01.2022 Family Members The long-awaited removal of border crossing permits happens at 11:59pm on Sunday 22nd November, something we have all been looking forward to. With that there will be some relaxation in visit rules, but these have not yet been confirmed by Health NSW as to what extent. There will still be hot spots and requirements to isolate but exactly what areas these will be is not published yet. The reference to the border region will cease but how that affects the ...rest of Victoria remains unknown. I have spoken with the Murrumbidgee Local Health Network today on these changes. I recognise the frustration that all families feel in this matter and will give you a further update on Monday, or earlier if I receive anything prior to then. Thank you for your patience and support in what has been a long journey. Gary Kairn CEO
