06.01.2022 WARNING - LENGTHY POST Goodbye, so long, farewell Riverland FOR those who don’t know, I will be finishing up as sports editor at the Murray Pioneer this Friday. While I have this platform, and hopefully your attention, I just wanted to say a few thank yous and say how much I have enjoyed my time here.... Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone at the Murray Pioneer and the broader Taylor Group for being so great to work with over the past four years and for giving me this opportunity. To everyone within the Riverland sporting community as a whole, thank you for working with me and letting me tell your stories and give your respective sports a platform. To all the coaches and club officials, along with committee members and officials across all sports, who have been so welcoming and so easy to talk to and for most of the time being willing to give me a few comments, thank you. There are too many people to thank individually, as I don’t want to leave anyone out. But there are a few specific groups I wanted to acknowledge. To the Glossop High School media team, thank you for helping to grow RFL 360 to an award-winning level and for being willing to have a crack at live streaming matches. We have had some ambitious plans and ideas, but watching you guys make it all happen and grow and learn has been awesome to be part of and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. To Lachie and Nobby at Sports Saturday and the rest of the crew at Riverland Broadcasters, thank you for giving me countless opportunities to make appearances on your shows and radio stations to promote local sport. To the Life FM family, thank you for giving me the chance to live out a childhood dream of commentating football. Those experiences over the last few years of learning the ropes have been great and moving into play-by-play calling was special. There are probably quite a few people I have forgotten or not mentioned directly, but just know how much I appreciate you all. In closing, remember, the Pioneer is here to help you promote our great community, but we need your help to do so. Whether it be calling the office to speak to the journos about what is happening in the community or sending an email or a letter with a story idea, any help you can give the journalists will ensure the Murray Pioneer continues to prosper and deliver the most comprehensive coverage of everything going on. Keep enjoying your sport and this beautiful place you call home. See more
