23.01.2022 We are fortunate to have a region that embraces public art. Across the Murray Arts footprint we have sculptures, street art and memorials that celebrate, commemorate and communicate our stories. Some of the art in our region is thousands of years old and some is just weeks old. Pictured is a memorial at Stanley near Beechworth by Sutherland, Gilbert & Dormer which was created to acknowledge the firefighters and volunteers who contributed to the 2009 fire campaign. We'd love t...o know about your favourite public art in our region and why you love it? Tag us in your pics /posts. Picture description: a large silver metal leaf sits curled on top of a tall rusty metal structure. At the base of the structure images of firefighters and volunteers are cut into the metal. The sculpture overlooks a dam where firetrucks fill with water. Photo: N.Ord

14.01.2022 'Museums are vessels of memory, knowledge, inspiration and dreams. Anne Pasternak, director of the Brooklyn Museum, makes the case for cultural institutions to take a leading role in supporting the world's recovery from COVID-19 -- and shows how, in times of turmoil and disruption, the arts help us come together, heal and rebuild a better society' A great 20 min listen and then you can go and visit MAMA - Murray Art Museum Albury to experience their summer exhibition program 20:20 where 20 artists have responded to this incredible year.

14.01.2022 This ten minute TED Talk is a great start to the day. Making art through collaboration and capturing humans connection to nature results in some stunning photographic images. I loved that the artists relied on "serendipity as their project manager" and the project collaborated with older people.... Take ten minutes to watch this and I promise your heart and mind will fill after hearing the stories of the project and seeing the beautiful images all shot on medium format film. My fav quote from talk "we might be able to synchronise better with our fellow flora fauna and funga . To do this requires both imagination and empathy and curiosity is at the root of both". We hope your day is curious. Nat

01.01.2022 Lovely story of art to facilitate healing from the bushfires. It's important to remember that even though one may not have been directly affected by fire (eg property loss) you can still experience the effects of the bushfire disaster and also feel it well into the future. This will be true of the COVID19 pandemic. How can we use art in our communities to facilitate healing?
