07.01.2022 UPDATE: Issued at 4:48 pm Monday, 24 May 2021. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for DAMAGING WINDS for people in Adelaide Metropoli...tan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Lower South East and parts of Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Mid North, Murraylands and Upper South East districts. Strong winds extending eastward overnight and continuing into Tuesday Weather Situation: A cold front will move across Eyre Peninsula late this evening, the Adelaide region before sunrise, and the eastern border mid morning Tuesday. Strong northerly winds will shift northwesterly following the front. A band of rain with the front and showers and possible thunderstorms to follow. Northerly winds have temporarily eased this afternoon but are expected to strengthen again this evening ahead of the cold front, with localised damaging wind gusts of 90 to 100 km/h possible at times overnight and early Tuesday morning. Damaging winds are most likely about elevated topography, with the passage of the cold front, and the onset of the rain. Further damaging wind gusts are possible south of about Cummins to the Barossa during the remainder of Tuesday, particularly with showers and thunderstorms. Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Cleve, Mount Gambier, Clare, Maitland, Murray Bridge, Kingscote, Naracoorte and Victor Harbor. Winds averaging 50-55 km/h with gusts to 80 km/h occurred at Port Lincoln Airport and Cleve earlier today. Raised dust has affected many areas today including Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and the Mid North. * Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your property. * Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe. To stay up to date with the latest weather, monitor the Bureau of Meteorology website. Current warning: www.bom.gov.au/products/IDS21037.shtml
