The article includes some really insightful modelling from Bureau of Meteorology and a look at how Orange City Council is adapting to water uncertainty through innovative water recycling methods. 16.01.2022 Community media, and particularly local radio stations like Outback Radio 2WEB in Bourke, play such a fundamental role within regional and rural communities across the Murray-Darling Basin. These radio stations provide communities with a chance to share the latest information on issues most important to them. Thanks to the team at Outback Radio for having us for an interview and a chat last week!

14.01.2022 Broken Hill City Council welcomed the opportunity to hear from Brendan Murphy of the Inspector General’s office on Wednesday at a briefing with the MDA. This council’s interest in effective water management spans not only their own mining and extractive industries, and includes support for their neighboring councils and communities including Menindee.

11.01.2022 Absolutely beautiful photos of the Western Riverina, which has been absolutely transformed into a beautiful landscape of native wildflowers following winter rain. "I couldn't believe it when I saw how the daisies just spread probably for around 500 metres, just tiny white paper daisies and it was just beautiful," said school teacher and photographer Beth. "In past years I've only taken photos of dry, dusty paddocks and dust storms, so it's been a pleasant change," she said.... 10.01.2022 Meeting with Balranald Shire Council’s Mike Colreavy and Gavin Helgaland to discuss water leadership, literacy, and regional boundaries. Balranald’s relationship with the Murrumbidgee and Darling make theirs a keen interest in the regional review.

10.01.2022 Deeply grateful to both local leader Graeme McCrabb, and Murray Darling Basin Authority REO Richard Ainsworth for their generosity of time and knowledge in sharing with Emma Bradbury and Samantha Lucas some of the many stories, perspectives, challenges and opportunities for land and water management across the Menindee Lakes. (More posts on this amazing two days will follow)

07.01.2022 Cobar is looking absolutely beautiful at this time of the year! Our CEO Emma Bradbury has spent the past week travelling the Murray-Darling Basin and meeting Mayors, councillors, GMs, local leaders and community members from Western NSW, including in the wonderful Cobar. Each community has been such an important reminder that local leadership is critical to the sustainable future of our Basin and natural resources.

05.01.2022 Brilliant meeting in Region 2 earlier this month, attended by Greater Shepparton City Council, Federation Council, Edward River Council, and Berrigan Shire Council. At the meeting, MDA CEO Emma Bradbury commended Region 2 on the contribution to the AGM motions, which will set the direction for the year ahead: "We’ve had positive feedback on the presentations, but for me the strength of the conference occurred in the calibre of the motions that were passed and the processes t...hat underpinned that. And I think nowhere more so than in Region 2. I think seeing the motion for the 450 G get up is a result of Dennis’ leadership and a year or two’s worth of hard work to put forward the voice of the issues of these councils in this region. To see this motion get up nationally is an incredibly proud moment for me. I was really pleased for the councils of this region and commend region 2." 01.01.2022 Another great article about native fish recovery following the impacts of the Millennium Drought. Research from CSIRO and The University of Adelaide shows positive signs of the congolli and pouched lamprey bouncing back due to clever engineering and increasing volumes of water for the environment.
