25.01.2022 A Paddle Safe / Paddle Smart safety message from all of us at Sydney Harbour Kayaks, Murray River Adventures and Mirage Sea Kayaks. BE BRIGHT BE SEEN when you are out on your kayak or surfski. What does it mean? ... > Here are some tips from Kate, Alex, Bronte and Max > Always Paddle with your friends. > Wear a bright lifejacket Yellow, Red or High-Vis colours are best. > Get some colour on your paddle - The more colourful the better. > Surf-Ski paddlers - Make sure your ski has safety colour decals on the bow & stern - A solid black or white ski is tough to see. > Paddling a kayak that has a ‘safety colour’ is best; - yellow, orange or red > Make sure your ski & paddle isn’t plain white; get some bright colours on them. > If you love to wear all black colours, then you MUST get a high-visibility lifejacket. > Wear a bright hat or cap, its good for sun protection, however great to be seen. > Most importantly, make sure you are very aware of the conditions. The weather changes; sometimes very quickly. If it gets choppy, then it is very hard for boaters to see paddlers. #bebrightbeseen / #wearalifejacket / #paddlesafe / #PaddleSmart Transport for NSW / NSW Maritime / Paddle Safe / Paddle Smart / Sydney Harbour Kayaks - Sydney Australia. / Mirage Kayaks

24.01.2022 The environmental watering has just started in the Yarran Creek and Green Swamp region of the Gunbower Forest. The watering will continue for several weeks and will give this section of the Gunbower the 'drink' it deserves. This means we get to go out kayaking into the forest and explore under the lush canopy. We were only advised today and we will be designing some amazing 'fully guided' Eco Adventures through the forest and into Green Swamp.... Stay tuned for more details in the coming days. 07.01.2022 If a kayak is found out in the water without the owner around, a full search MUST be launched. Most of these situations are from a kayak simply floating away... from shore or blown off a jetty (with the owner safe, somewhere else) Please get one of these ‘Kayak Owners’ labels for your craft. Write on your name and number. If your kayak is found, then you can be called. These searches cost tax payers many thousands of dollars and exhaust valuable resources. Mirage and Sydney Harbour Kayaks have these stickers ready to go. Please make sure your kayak has one Transport for NSW Paddle Safe / Paddle Smart NSW Maritime

05.01.2022 Now here is an idea that we are looking into: How about an Adventure / Luxury Combination long weekend. Night ONE: Unwind and de-stress at the glamorous Gunbower Cottage, Cohuna Victoria... Next day: meet up with our fantastic local guide for an all day guided kayaking tour from Cohuna, down the Gunbower Creek following the Koondrook Track. Night TWO: Relax with an adventurous camping night on the banks of the Gunbower Creek. Enjoy an amazing sunset with a BBQ dinner and some local wine. Get a good night sleep after your long day paddling down the Creek. Next day: meet up 'again' with our fantastic local guide for part two of your kayaking adventure. Following the Koondrook Track down the Gunbower Creek, paddle the last few hours detouring to check out some of the beautiful swamp-lands off the Gunbower. Night THREE: Finishing up at the newly built Koondrook Glamping Tents on the shoreline of the Gunbower Creek. Sleep in the comfort of a 5 star hotel; except you are in a wonderfully designed tent. After your second day on the water, you will have time to settle into your new accommodation and cross the new foot-bridge into the Gunbower Forest for a sunset casual walk. Dinner can be at one of the new waterfront restaurants around the Koondrook Wharf area. Well, cool ideas have the habit of becoming a reality and as the Gannawarra Shire Council Tourism plans continue to evolve, amazing local experiences like I have mentioned above will be realistic. Sustainable & Eco friendly Tourism in the Gannawarra Shire region will be a huge economic driver and job creator for the future. We look forward to welcoming you shortly.
