Things are not always what they seem behind the scenes at most events and festivals around this great country of ours so it is heart warming when the aboved mention come out from the bunkers to go in and have a bat for your side and we again thank them for their imput and support of our event at Mount Gambier. 18.01.2022 We have great pleasure on announcing that a Street Cruise and Display will be added inclusions of this year's AUTOFEST Mount Gambier and 38th Show N shine Celebrations. This segment of the celebrations will take place between 4.30 pm and 6pm Saturday the 23rd of January and it is also to be noted that SAPOL will be onboard to assist where necessary during these times that will allow Autofest Competitors the opportunity to take part of this special addition to the event. We ...praise the City of Mount Gambier Council, SAPOL and Relevant Authorities for their support for this inclusion to our event for without their corporation and support quiet simply this segment or our event would not be happening. NOTE: Its up to the Event ENTRANTS to Organise their own Event Permit if required and not AUTOFEST. Conditions will be in place for all participants and we ask you to respect this support and also to take NOTE; NO Unruly Behaviour will be tolerated and that at all times unless directed by the Police, ALL participants must follow the road rules. ANY ENTRANT found to be doing the wrong thing will suffer all punishments from both the Authorities as well as that of the event organisers. All Autofest entrants wishing to partake in this cruise Must either if full registration or an event permit. 04.01.2022 To the attention of the Elected Members, Directors and the Citizens of the Rural City of Murray Bridge. it comes with regret to announce that after many numerous efforts and attempts to return our Autofest Festival to the RCMB we have no option but to announce that we (Autofest and the River City Rumble Festivals) hereby give notice that any plans to remain in your fabulous City have all but vanished. We must decline the offer made by your CEO of only staging a Show N Shine a...t Sturt Reserve and to hold all other activities at the speedway as whilst the speedway is a fantastic facility for a speedway event, this venue is just not suited to our style of festival where we require a more picturesque setting such as Sturt Reserve in which our ten year agreement stated or the showgrounds could be made a suitable venue as well. Firstly I wish to pass on our thanks to the innovative and supportive Council and the then Directors of the RCMB that supported and understood what our Festivals could bring to Murray Bridge and the Murraylands region which brought about a 10 year agreement of our two parties in which unfortunately only saw 4 short years due to the withdrawal of SAPOL's support. I Les Adams, on behalf of the Autofest Performance Car Festivals state that even after the support of CAMS and the South Australian Motorsport Board that we must decline your offer. This is a major decision and a huge step backwoods for the sport/hobby and goes against the show of strength of Street Machining is having nationally and within other communities in which we attend. Unlike most similar events around Australia we have concentrated on having events within regional area’s rather than major capitals and all of the Autofest festivals are held within each of the Cities boundary's visited and thus keeps them well and truly in the public eye where any sport needs to be whilst promoting road safety and driver education. Other Cities that have welcomed the Autofest festivals include, Wagga NSW, Corowa NSW, Mount Gambier SA Albury NSW, Melbourne Vic, Bathurst NSW and Shepparton Vic. Thank you must also go out to our many supporters and volunteers that include Murraylands Tourism marketing, Murray Bridge business houses, Murray Bridge Accommodation Houses, Houseboat Hirers Association, Murray Bridge Scouts, the many Local Sporting Clubs, St Johns, MFS, SES and many others that were all part in bringing this popular festival to the RCMB. This is a first for us and we wish the RCMB well in its future of securing events and festivals to be part of their region. END:
