20.01.2022 Jeffrey takes out the first @ the valley!!! Very gutsy performance, love this horse. Congrats to Cliff & Shell

18.01.2022 JEFFREY TO TARGET WARRNAMBOOL FEATURE He’s fit, tough and flying! The Jeffrey story just keeps getting better! What a couple of months its been for the versa...tile Kilmany trained Firefree (but you can call him Jeffrey) - July/August yielding four wins and a second from six outings, pocketing connections over $140,000 in stakes. Ironically his biggest cheque in the period was for running second in the Grand National Hurdle ($45,000). Jeffrey struck twice last week! Finding the line strongly on Thursday at the Moe Racing Club under the urgings of Georgina Cartwright to take out the Moe Optical Moe Cup 17th October BM58 Handicap (2400 metres). Converting back to jumps racing and partnering with Tommy Ryan to impressively win Sunday’s A1 signage Gotta Take Care Hurdle (4000 metres), part of the jumps season finale at Ballarat. Veteran trainer Cliff Murray is in awe of his pride and joy, He’s just so tough the toughest horse I’ve trained. He was so slow early, but we always knew he would stay! Now a seven-year-old, Firefree was bred by Omeo resident David Lumsden, who raced the dam, Joyance (by Jugah). She won two races including a Class 1 over 2150 metres at Bairnsdale. Murray races the horse with wife Michelle Murray, popular East Gippsland clerk of the course Peter Sandy and his wife Robyn. Sandy foaled the mare down on his Canni Creek property and broke the youngster in, his enthusiastic student spending some time learning the ropes in Victoria’s high country, where brumbies are rife, and wombat holes a plenty. Even now he’s a ‘rock star, Jeffrey still likes to holiday at ‘home’ with the Sandy’s. The ‘altitude training looked a waste when Jeffrey beat a total of nine runners’ home at his first eight starts, but Murray keep the faith! He was Australia’s slowest racehorse there for a while, but he needed time and ground he’s never been placed at below 2000 metres and continues to mature he said. Firefree will race on in the coming weeks, connections hopeful of snaring a start in Australia's longest flat race, the $300,000 Jericho Cup (4600m) run at Warrnambool on December 1. Murray’s other stayer, consistent six-year-old Alienated, is currently equal second on the points list for entry. "We're looking at the Jericho Cup if we can get a run and then next year, we will head steeplechasing and see how we go," Murray said. Murray has a team of six horses currently in work, with Firefree his only jumper, although dual city-winning stayer Alienated could join Firefree on the jumps circuit next year. 16.01.2022 I would just like to apologise for the late update with the latest success of Firefree (Jeffrey) I have been really crook and just haven't got to it. But as I'm sure you all probably know, Jeffrey was guided to an impressive flat win in the last race at Moe last week by talented jockey Georgina Cartwright. And then just to show off he came out three days later to win the opening hurdle race at Ballarat on Sunday. Big congrats to Cliff and Michelle, and owners Peter and Robyn Sandy. And to Jeffrey himself, (who I'm sure is loving all the well deserved attention). It's been super exciting and I'm greatful to be a part of it. Super training effort Mr Murray keep up the good work xo
