21.01.2022 Today marks a day where it's important to reach out to Family, our Elders,Friends,Neighbours,Colleagues and even people you may not know. This yeah we've found ourselves facing new challenges and barriers while being stuck in lock down. Just remember everyone has adapted differently to isolation. All it takes is to check in with that someone who may be doing it tough or hasn't been themselves. Make the effort and say hello,a conversation could change a life.... Remember it's okay not to be okay. This year, it also coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day #itaintweaktospeak! If you're struggling, please speak up! Speak to someone you trust. #areyouokay

17.01.2022 Good Morning Everyone, as you may or may not be aware, it is National Reconciliation Week. Today Murrigunyah as a community-based organisation we support National Reconciliation Week 2021 by acknowledging and understanding that no matter where we are across this nation, we are on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lands, and we acknowledge ongoing connection to Country. This year marks twenty years of Reconciliation Australia and almost three decades of Australia’s formal ...reconciliation process. National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are seeing more people speaking up, speaking the truth, asking the hard questions, seeing the hard facts, and informing themselves about issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures. #MoreThanAWord #NRW2021

07.01.2022 Hello, Stacey here, CEO of The Centre For Women & Co. Id like to start by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the country on which we work, the Yuggera pe...ople, the Turrbul people and the Bundjalung people, their Elders, past, present and emerging, for they hold the hopes, dreams, traditions and cultures of Aboriginal Australia. This week, along with the rest of Australia, we are taking time to acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as The Stolen Generations. We are taking the time to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors. We are taking the time to acknowledge that the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continues today, including the desecration of their land and underrepresentation of their culture. We stand beside our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sisters and brothers, hear them, see them, learn from them and are guided by them in the healing process for our people and nation. We continue to work with and learn from our incredible community partners such as the Healing Foundation and Murrigunyah Family & Cultural Healing Centre to guide us in our part in this journey. At this time, I would also like to take the time to express our concern for our wider global community and sadness at the continuation of injustices carried out against minority communities throughout the world. We stand in solidarity with the #blacklivesmatter movement of the United States. We see you, we hear you, we see the injustice, we see the violence, we stand beside you and we wholeheartedly support you. Thank you to all of the incredible organisations and community members who work together to change the story, help us learn, help us grow, and help us be part of the healing process. Please take extra care of yourselves this week. If you feel that you need to talk with someone urgently, please call Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636 or Lifeline Australia on 13 11 14 #inthistogether #alwayswasalwayswillbe #blacklivesmatter
