09.01.2022 A fierce but friendly game of boccia was played between two groups of residents at Murroona Gardens Care Community!! Thank you to QCoal Foundation Community Grant Program for providing the funds to purchase two of Maxwell Pro boccia ball sets and a specially designed ramp. As we age and become older, we can and usually will, have challenges associated with disability, inactivity and isolation. Studies indicate that the elderly are less likely to become prone to depression, an...d will have better mental and physical function, if they participate in some form of social activity. This is where the boccia game can help. The boccia game is an inclusive activity that can be played for pleasure or competition. This inclusive bowling game is designed for people with varying forms of disability. Murroona Gardens Care Community look forward to a successful Senior Olympics competition in 2021

06.01.2022 Blessing of the Chapel 4 August 2020 - Reverend Nick Riley held a service on behalf of the community churches of our region to bless the new Chapel located in our recently renovated Wattle wing. Murroona Gardens Community would like to thank the families of the late Noel and Marjory Pilcher who kindly donated beautiful portraits painted by Sister Carmel of the Catholic Church. ... Milsom Muller hand crafted the two large wooden columns and John Doyle & John Maltby made the two smaller columns, the lectern and the holy cross which was made from silky oak timber donated by Jack Webster. This new chapel area will provide a space for worship and peaceful reflection for our residents, visitors and staff.

06.01.2022 Activities... activities... activities...

06.01.2022 Murroona Gardens Community Care is encouraging the Bowen community to honour aged care workers and volunteers by saying thanks for caring on Aged Care Employee Day held today, Friday 7th August. On this day we celebrate the quality of care and commitment that we see each and every day. This year, we say a special thank you for their continuing devotion in protecting so many people at risk from the coronavirus pandemic.... Some may be called superheroes, some are quiet achievers, but everyone in our industry contributes to care. We salute them because they all play vital roles - from nurses, personal care workers and allied health professionals, lifestyle officers, to chefs, cooks, cleaners, maintenance, administration, managers and volunteers and many, many more. Our elders are our most vulnerable, particularly during this time. It is our workers dedication and consideration, in what are sometimes challenging but also very rewarding roles, that makes a huge difference in their lives.
