24.01.2022 A flyby of the new school: https://www.schoolinfrastructure.nsw.gov.au//New-primary-s

22.01.2022 The Department of Education has released an Expression of Interest for land for the school in Murrumbateman. Our Council's General Manager is putting one in for the land on Hawthorn! We'll need 6 Hectares to allow for a Primary and then a High School as well as recreational area(s).

21.01.2022 spoke to our new MP for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman today and she reaffirmed that the school planning is on target and when presented should be in the budget for next year!

21.01.2022 Well folks you have a decision to make in a few days time when voting. Have you contacted your favoured politician and demanded confirmation that they will build a school in Murrumbateman? We know there is a plan in progress but no firm commitment as yet from the LNP and Labor will only do so if they are elected. It would be nice to get a written guarantee wouldn't it?

15.01.2022 Hi! I am writing a story for a local paper on the latest development and the need for a school in Murrumbateman. I am keen to speak to parents who would like to share their experiences. You can DM and get in touch. Thanks

14.01.2022 Hi All some good news - see below NSW Government announces site for new Murrumbateman Primary School: "Council has been eagerly awaiting the selection of a site for a primary school in Murrumbateman since the announcement of funding in 2018," said Yass Valley Mayor Rowena Abbey. "This announcement is a significant milestone and welcome news for the Murrumbateman community particularly young families. "Council looks forward to closely working with the Department of Education to progress the design and construction of the primary school to ensure we get the right outcome for the Murrumbateman community - now and into the future."

10.01.2022 The grant application for the Aboriginal Art workshop is just about ready - needs to be in by the end of the week. So far it looks like we will have 3 artists delivering the workshop and the CEO of the Onerwal people (they are the custodians of the land around here) will open the Workshop with a Welcome to Country and a Smoking Ceremony. We can only fit in 15 or so participants and are well on our way to getting the numbers. The grant will only allow us to run it AFTER Jan 2020 so we are targetting last Sunday in February. There will also be short presentations for the Kids at MECCA and the Family Day Care on the Monday following. Those interested in helping to organise this or participate should contact me at [email protected]

08.01.2022 On the last day of the year I would like to reflect on some of the achievements of the Council, its Executive and all the support staff. I believe we have been ...as open and transparent as possible and have succeeded in consulting with the community on a large number of matters. During this year the Executive, Staff and Councillors have succeeded in producing, displaying, modifying and adopting - the Community Strategy Plan, Gundaroo and Sutton Master Plans, Gundaroo and Sutton Flood Management Plans, a Parks and Recreation Plan, a Pedestrian and Cycle Plan, Council’s Strategic Plan, the Delivery Programme, Operations Plan and the Settlement Strategy. In addition we have been working on Internal Service efficiency together with policy reviews such as code of management practice, media management, code of meeting practice, roads and truck depot issues etc. I stood for Council on a ‘better communication’ platform and quite frankly I believe this Council and its Staff have lived up to my expectation during the past year. We have had community meetings across the length and breadth of the LGA and have incorporated feedback into our reports and policies. The previous Council’s rates review, whilst distasteful to many, has put this Council on a much more sure footing funding wise. This in turn has allowed us to adopt a more strategic and planned outlook. I cannot commend our current team (Staff, Executive and Councillors) highly enough for the work they have put in this year and no doubt will continue to do so into next. Lets get the Murrumbateman Master Plan done! As always I am more than happy to meet with you to discuss any matters of concern to you. I hope you had a nice Xmas break and are looking forward to the New Year. Clr Mike.

06.01.2022 Here is a copy of the proposed "wine Trail" for interest. It will be subject to change depending on feedback.

06.01.2022 Hi all, brief update ... yes I know its taking time .. Meeting with our local MP Wendy Tuckerman and Council staff to get an update on progress to building a school .. next monday! will let you know if anything of significance comes out.

04.01.2022 Just "testing the waters"! It looks like the public school will now go ahead subject to suitable land being found by Council. However there is also a possibility that we could still develop a small k-10 community school of some sort. If there is sufficient interest I would be happy to help start the ball rolling? My email is [email protected].

02.01.2022 One week to go! Decided who you are voting for yet? Regardless of your political leaning, don’t forget to grab your democracy sausage from the Murrumbateman Men...shed fellas. We will be outside the Polling Place at the Murrumbateman Rec Grounds, so come and say g’day, grab a sausage sanga (or two) and a cool drink and also get some tickets for our rocking horse raffle. During the last election, the good people of Murrumbateman consumed over 50 kilograms of democracy sausages from the Menshed. Let’s see if we can break that record this year. See you next Saturday.
