19.01.2022 There are certain legal commitments you need to complete before you light that pile burn. Have you registered your bonfire with Yass Valley Fire Control? This ...is imperative. Telephone 6226 3100 during business hours only. This must be logged at YVFCC a minimum of 24 hours prior to when you want to light your fire up to and no later than 1300hrs Friday. Otherwise your burn will not be in the new system early enough for the weekend. Notification of neighbours must be done by either: face-to-face chat, a telephone call or text message, an email, or a written note in their mail box delivered on mail delivery day. Social media does not suffice. Further important information is available at the below link. Please read this document. https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au//13323/Standards-for-Pile-Burni See more

08.01.2022 UPDATE ON THE BARTON HIGHWAY The Barton Highway Upgrade Project Alliance Agreement will see contractors Seymour Whyte and SMEC partner with Transport for NSW to... design and build the first stage of the project. The first-stage contract has been awarded to allow for vital works to now begin. This will see a fully duplicated highway between Murrumbateman and the ACT, adding capacity, easing congestion and enhancing safety for the community. The award of contract means major construction is expected to start later this year, which is welcome news for constituents of Murrumbateman and Yass commuting to Canberra who contribute to the 13,000 vehicles using the corridor each day. Transport for NSW has also released a submissions report summarising all feedback to the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for the Barton Highway duplication project. The Australian and NSW Governments are each investing $50 million on the Barton Highway upgrade project, with a further $100 million committed by the Australian Government, pending further planning.
