23.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS WRAP FOR SUNDAY. A lot has happened in the past few hours. First we had confirmation of the first Coronavirus case in the Yarriambiack Shire. The Department of Health and Human Services are releasing no further details beyond assuring people "The public can be confident that all close contacts will be identified and responded to accordingly as required to protect public health" Shortly after this news the State Government announced it would be shutting down the st...ate over the next 48 hours. Essential services will remain in place i.e. supermarkets Pharmacies etc . State Minister for Agriculture and Regional Affairs Jaclyn Symes says "We will ensure our farms and agribusinesses keep operating to keep the supermarkets stocked and food on tables." "Food and beverage production is at the heart of ensuring we can get through this crisis together - the Victorian Government knows how important you are to us all." It has also been announced that the Stick Shed at Murtoa will be closed until further notice. School Holidays have been brought forward to Tuesday meaning that Monday will be the final day of term. Short notice but the expectation is that this will allow parents to self-isolate their children and adhere to social distancing protocols. As The Advertiser gets more news or clarity on what is about to happen in the Dunmunkle Triangle well bring it to you here and over on Twitter @MurtoaA

03.01.2022 GOOD CORONAVIRUS NEWS The Advertiser has followed up on the story of someone possibly awaiting the result of a coronavirus test being in Murtoa. The Yarriambiack Shire Council, when informed of that possibility immediately did two things.... 1. "As part of our contact tracing, The Department of Health and Human Services follows up and monitors all close contacts of confirmed cases, we would inform the community if there is a specific risk."

02.01.2022 WEDNESDAY CORONAVIRUS UPDATE. SOME MAJOR MOVES TODAY. The biggest announcement was the ban on elective surgery. As of Thursday, only Level 1 and urgent surgery will go ahead.... The definition of elective surgery is any procedure that is organised in advance and so can be both elective and urgent. Also today it has been confirmed that trucks carrying food and farm supplies will not be turned around at border checkpoints like the one currently operating on the South Australia/Victoria border. Queensland is about to implement similar border controls. Horse Racing has been suspended in Victoria and NSW with immediate effect after a number of jockeys were potentially exposed to the virus The National Cabinet is meeting again tonight if anything significant is decided the The Advertiser will update you later tonight. Finally these demographics are from NSW but they make the point Coronavirus is not confined to older people in fact the younger demographics are leading the way in terms of positive tests. Please spread this widely.
