06.01.2022 The most devastating events can form the strongest of bonds. Members of our crew have made close friends with fellow firefighters around the nation, especially members of the Cobargo Rural Fire Brigade. Through these tough months this brigade has been there through it all for their community and members of our brigade are so grateful to have had the opportunity to create friendships and bonds with their members that will last a life time. Despite being hundreds of kilometres... apart and amidst all the devastation, we will always share a special bond with the people of Cobargo. Thank you to firefighters all around the world that have helped us with these fires! Words will never be able to express our gratitude.

04.01.2022 If you want to help volunteer firefighters during the current crisis, consider joining your nearest brigade. That's the best way to help - your time is priceless. There are roles you can perform even if you are not able or willing to go to fires. Joining takes time. In the meantime, if you wish to help, consider a monetary donation to your nearest brigade. Money will allow your local brigade to purchase what they need or want, whether it's bottled water, soft drinks, food or ...equipment. If you donate food or other items, they may not be what is wanted or needed at that time and may not be used. With cash, your local brigade can also choose to purchase from local businesses, who may need the trade more than Costco, Aldi or Coles. If you want to donate to your local brigade, contact them and give them cash, a cheque, or make a deposit to their bank account. If you want your donation to be deductible against income tax, it's more complicated - contact your local brigade for advice. If you don't pay income tax, or don't care about the deduction, don't worry about it. Please be cautious of anyone collecting "on behalf of" or "for" the RFS. Are you sure everything donated - money or goods - is getting to its destination? Are they a registered charity with the protections that entails? Is your donation tax-deductible? Obviously cash is far more risky to donate through an intermediary than goods, as it's far more attractive for theft, and easier to lose or lose track of. Be skeptical - for example, the people selling firefighter calendars aren't firefighters, and most of the funds go to profit and other charitable causes, not fire brigades. We have been made aware of situations in our town where members of the general public are taking advantage of the generosity of local businesses and claiming to be members from the RFS and trying to get donations of food and drink etc for their own personal use. Thanks for your help, and please do consider the first suggestion. No-one ever complains that their local fire brigade is too big.

04.01.2022 To the families and friends of Geoff and Andrew, our thoughts and prayers are with you. A tragic timely reminder that firefighters around the country are risking their lives in order to protect their communities. ... You are true heroes! ~ EDIT~ Please see below a link to a GoFundMe page that has been created to assist the families of these two men. If you are able to share around that would be greatly appreciated. https://www.gofundme.com/f/helping-a-fire-fighters-family

01.01.2022 Footage taken by one of our crew members down at the Myall Creek fire. Firefighters around the country are facing blazes like this and they have their work cut out for them.
