16.01.2022 Dear All, Margaret and I hope you are all managing in the best way possible to meet the challenges presented to us due to this virus. We are witnessing a world...wide change to our lives and the way we have become accustomed to living them. The challenges go far beyond physical illness or the threat of death. The economic, political and social implications have caused much uncertainty; hence our mental-emotional state is disturbed and the whole world is insecure and fearful of the future. From the wealthy to the poor and across all cultures, everybody is being forced to re-evaluate their lives and beliefs. It is a call for a change in consciousness and to broaden the field of our awareness so that we observe our unconscious impulses and deliberately replace them with conscious thoughts, words, and behaviour. Practicing yoga is a discipline of Self-management. No educational institution, no organisation, no government can or does take responsibility for our lives. We must do that for ourselves. And this not a burden. It is a privilege which yoga equips us with. Let’s never make the mistake of underestimating the potential of practicing yoga and the difference it can make to our lives. Whatever you do, yoga helps you do it better. This time in our history calls for us to be more considerate of our unique circumstances and of one another. To be more diligently aware of what we do, how we do it and why we are doing it. To re-evaluate what is important and where we are investing our energy and efforts, thoughts and actions, time and expression. Thoughtfulness, awareness, observation and enquiry are required more than ever Yoga orientates us so that we don’t continue to walk around fooled by the illusion. The illusion that we can continue as we have; taking and not giving. We all need to take responsibility, not only for the environment around us, but more so for the inner environment. The inner environment which dictates and interacts with our emotions. Each and every one of us need to make a conscious contribution. Practicing yoga stabilises the mind and emotions. It keeps the system functioning at its highest level. So in our time of need, let us not abandon yoga, else its benefits abandon us. Margaret and I wish you the very best and we hope everyone finds the means to manage their individual and collective circumstances, whatever they may be. Remember - there is always a solution, it may not be the one you want, but there is always a solution you need. Sometimes it ends up being the one you also wanted.

14.01.2022 It’s been great to be back teaching in person the the studio this week. Today is International Yoga Day and Winter Solstice.

14.01.2022 GLENN CERESOLI ONLINE WORKSHOPS THE THREE DIMENSIONS OF YOGA Dear All,... It is more and more apparent that Covid-19 will continue to change and influence our world and lives for some time to come. More than ever we need the will, the skill and most importantly, the perception that practicing yoga can empower us with. An alert sharpness and yet simultaneous calm of the mind which stabilises the emotions and sensitises our perception to everything around us - this can be the gift that yoga gives. We have to be ready to adapt to the continually shifting ground beneath our feet without losing ourselves in survival instinct or fuelling our addictions to compensate for losses or disappointments. The same techniques and awareness we use to distance ourselves from the intensity and pain we often confront during asana practice can also be applied in life’s current situation. Abdomen, throat, face soft. Smooth, even breath. The intention of yoga is to bring our awareness to the fact that we are multi-dimensional, not one-dimensional beings. The Earth is not flat, it is spherical - though we may not experience its curvature in our day to day lives. Similarly, we are not flat - though we spend much of our time living merely by the instincts of survival and sense gratification. We have bodies of bones, muscles and organs, etc, but we also have an energetic system that animates and vitalises that body. To control both of these, we are also endowed with a mind, with all of its unknown, fascinating aspects. Each one of these layers is more subtle than the previous one before it and the harmony of all three is required in order to connect to that which we really are; our divinity. Yoga can teach us this requisite harmony of body, energy and mind so that we can experience life in its multi-dimensional reality. You are most welcome to join this course of 4 Sundays or singular workshops to explore and gain some insight into these first 3 dimensions of our being through the practice of asana and pranayama.
