25.01.2022 23 million years ago the Tweed Shield Volcano erupted. Through the fire and violence, the eruption created the geology which shapes this land. It’s in the heart of this caldera that we make Husk Rum, trying to capture this beautiful region is every bottle.

22.01.2022 In the 1980s we used to jump into the rock pool at Natural Bridge alias Natural Arch. Then in 1989 a cyclonic storm washed huge rocks into the pool and it was no longer safe to do jump. This is a young me jumping into the pool.

20.01.2022 This was tonight's sunset with Mt Warning - Wollumbin silhouetted against a beautiful red sky, with a group of conveniently illuminated palm trees in front. I was located at the entrance to the new Cudgen hospital worksite and used a high-powered zoom lens.

17.01.2022 "Many often forget about the little things. We are so fortunate that we can go from the coast to the country in less than 30 minutes." Thanks to @photos_by_vick...i_blinco for the beautiful snap of the Tweed River and sharing with us on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/tweedshirecouncil/ #TogetherTweed

17.01.2022 A typical evening at the Murwillumbah YHA in the 1980s.

16.01.2022 Like many of you I'm Spring cleaning during lock down. I found some photos and a poem from the 1980s.

15.01.2022 In the 80s the rock pool at Currumbin had a swing. We would walk up the bank holding the rope. When in position we would swing out over the water and let go. The first time I did it I let go to soon and did a splat belly flop, I didn't make that mistake again. Sadly the rope has now gone.

14.01.2022 Have you captured any beautiful moon images this week? This pic of the full moon setting behind Wollumbin was taken by Phase Four Photo & Film 20 minutes before... sunrise Kelvin Hennessy says: "I took these photos near the new Cudgen Hospital site, which is 32km from the top of the mountain, the furthest I have ever been able to get a photo like this - that is why the moon looks so large compared to it."

13.01.2022 MONEY If a man is after money, he is money mad, If he keeps it he is a capitalist, If he spends it he is a playboy, If he does not get it he is a no-hoper,... If he does not try to get it he lacks ambition, If he gets it without working he is a parasite, If he gets it after a lifetime of work people call him a fool who never got anything out of life. 09.01.2022 In the 80s we used to slide down a natural rock water slide. So much fun. It is closed for safety reasons.

09.01.2022 Before covid I had planned to have a big party today to celebrate 40 years of operating the Murwillumbah YHA. But alas today passes as a normal day. I am so honoured to have been part of the YHA club. All the staff in all the organization, hostel managers and office staff, both present and past are special people. I consider all friends as well as colleagues. I have many happy memories of the YHA and Murwillumbah over the past 40 years.

07.01.2022 What a brilliant photograph. Similar to the sunset from our deck.

06.01.2022 An advertising poster from the 80s. I had a sailing boat I lent to experienced sailors. Everyone said they were experienced until I had to rescue them. Which was nearly every time. So eventually I took the boat out and took guests as crew.

02.01.2022 At Natural Bridge alias Natural Arch there was a robust wooden bridge but in 1989 there was a cyclonic storm and a tree was washed onto the bridge. Engineers found it was unstable so it was demolished.

02.01.2022 Over the years we have had several guests who have been 2 meters high. This has been one of them.
