23.01.2022 I had the honour of capturing little Bella and her family. Please read her story and support where you can. Life is both a beautiful and heartbreaking experience but experiencing it together can be a profoundly humbling and warming experience nonetheless. Bella is a delightful and friendly seven-year-old girl. She lives with her parents, sister and grandma in beautiful Shoal Bay (Port Stephens NSW). During April 2020 Bella was diagnosed with a highly aggressive brain tumour... and was told she had just 3 months to live. Her parents, in desperation, launched a fundraising appeal with help from the community and were able to raise the funds needed for emergency life-saving surgery. Dr Charlie Teo performed the surgery on her brain in May 2020. With this intervention, Bella’s life was extended, however, in August her parents are heartbroken to be told that it was no longer possible for medical aid to prolong her life. Bella will not be with us for very much longer - perhaps two months at most. It is our wish to give Bella and her family memories to last beyond this page in their lives. All money raised will go towards helping the family in practical ways through this difficult path and providing Bella with new experiences to brighten her final days. 14.01.2022 I have always tried to wear my heart on my sleeve, to give everything I do everything I've got. I have always tried my hardest to do justice to my stories & subjects - to my clients and friends. I have poured over timelines, visited venues, called coordinators, stayed well beyond agreed times, worked without breaks, gotten my camera gear soaked, rained on, hailed on, my clothes wet and ruined. I have destroyed boots, I have missed my daughter's school events and come home wit...h aching muscles and bites all over my ankles from shooting in tall grass to get those beautiful shots my clients love. I have comforted nervous brides and reassured nervous grooms. I love it without end. I have juggled many roles; being a highly sensitive creative and photographer, a wife, a mummy, a survivor of childhood trauma and a human who loves to see people happy. I have always tried to treat people with kindness and respect, with honesty and truth. I loath bullying or slander - its a terribly ugly thing and I am happy to say that I get offended by unkindness and ignorance. I value each and every breath that I have been blessed with and I wear that gratitude everyday and try to extend it into everything I do. I have seen the ugliness of anger, I have seen how lies can snowball and create stories of degradation and defamation. I choose to be a human who doesn't accept bullies, who doesn't accept lies and who will show her daughter that standing in truth and kindness will always win even if your health, your heart and your soul get broken a little in the process. In almost 8 years, with hundreds of couples, even more families and businesses, I am thankful that I have been given the space to be myself and to be a highly sensitive creative within that safe space.
