15.01.2022 The Board of Support Act is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably experienced people to be considered for appointment to the Board of Directors. Support Act is Australia’s only charity delivering crisis relief services to artists, crew and music workers as a result of ill health, injury, a mental health problem, or some other crisis that impacts on their ability to work in music. We do this in 2 ways. First, via our Crisis Relief Service, which provides short term funding for essential services. The second, is our Wellbeing Helpline. A free, confidential 24/7 phone counselling service.

Tune Up! is an online mentorship or advice session for young people of marginalised gender identities including women, gender-diverse folk and trans-men (aged 15-20 years). ... Girls Rock! Canberra will pair you with a mentor who has experience in the area that you are interested in learning more about. We will organise for you to have a one-hour chat session with them via Zoom (or a phone call) to talk through the things that you want to know about. This is an opportunity for emerging musicians and young people to connect with successful members of the music community and learn from their experiences. 'Female and non-binary artists, songwriters or producers, at any stage of their career, are encouraged to apply to take part in two online mentoring sessions, plus a mentoring session with KLP, as well as one publicity and media training session with award-winning publicist Anna Fitzgerald.' Ruth has performed as an actor and musician with Rebus Theatre, has spoken on numerous panel discussions related to the arts and disability, and has collaborated with some of Canberra's leading music and theatre makers. Ruth has also taught singing privately and run group singing workshops. Currently, Ruth’s main focus is on building Mary Violet Creative. Ruth believes in the huge value of the arts and how they benefit each and every human being on the planet. Mary Violet Creative is a creative business founded to support other creative businesses. Mary Violet Creative hosts workshops and events (currently online only), and provides up-to-date information and support for artists with the business and administrative sides of their work through coaching and providing arts admin outsourcing services. COVID-19 has only worsened the situation for local live music. It’s time the ACT Government acts, not produce reports. 01.01.2022 We have just had our AGM and reflected on the last year of achievements. We thank you all for contributing, supporting and being a part of Canberra's Music future. A few highlights for us: - International Make Music Day, hundreds of musicians playing around the CBR region and thousands in community engagement. - 28 professional development activities to over 600 people... - Supported local musicians in gaining $70k worth of grant funding - Got commitment from the ACT government for an 'Entertainment Action Plan' (still waiting on action) Stay tuned for more over the next year!
