20.01.2022 MAMMA MIA! Auditions completed update. Hello and thank you all so much for coming in for your auditions. We had such an overwhelming response with over 40 registrations within the first week. If you are successful in your audition, whether it be for a character role, ensemble or even chorus, then congratulations! If you did not, console yourself with the thought that we weren’t judging the auditions only for the quality of the acting / singing (though of course this is an ext...remely important factor) but we were also looking for people who have the right feel for the characters. Casting is a lot about gut instinct and responding to quite abstract human qualities which you imagine the character you are looking for will have. It also entails ensuring the lead characters both meld together in a symbiotic way. If you do not receive a place in the cast this time DON’T GIVE UP! Acting and singing is tough and some of the qualities you need for it are tenaciousness (sticking with it, persisting, not giving up) and a very thick skin because there are so many more noes than yesses in the performing world and this is something you need to be able to manage. So, over the next couple of days, please understand, we DO want you, we want the person you are and the personality you have. It's just sad that sometimes we have to say no. Best of luck to each and every one of you, the fact you took the first step in walking through that door is courageous in itself and for us on the audition panel, it's going to be a long process over the next few days. 19.01.2022 Wow... what a day! Congratulations to everyone that came to their auditions today for Musical Society Mildura's production of MAMMA MIA! The audition panel and I were all very excited and surprised to hear and see such a diverse range of vocal, acting and dancing abilities. For those that attended, you should congratulate yourselves. The hard part is now over for you. Tomorrow will bring a new day and a bunch of new faces and voices for us listen to and watch. 18.01.2022 Hi folks! Tonight is the night for Twisted Broadway! featuring many of our Musical Society Mildura members. If you are interested in theatre you should definitely come check it out. The idea of this production is giving female musical theatre performers a chance to sing a male broadway song and the males a chance to sing a female broadway song! It is going to be an awesome show. 18.01.2022 Vale Eddy Geyer We wish to pay tribute to Eddy who passed away on March 22nd. Eddy was a valuable contributor to the Musical Society from the mid 70's to the mid 90's mainly working backstage and building scenery. He supported his wife Colleen and daughters Linda and Merise who were involved on stage during this time. Deepest condolences to Colleen and family during this time.

17.01.2022 Vale Yvonne Hedley. The Musical Society would like to pass on our thoughts to Yvonne's family during this time. Yvonne became a life member of our society in 1989, she had many roles within the society such as Musical Director and Pianist. Not only was she a great supporter of theatre but she was a teacher and mentor to many students in Sunraysia. She will be missed, but her legacy will live on for generations.

16.01.2022 This time last year our Grease cast was getting ready to take the stage! We were so proud of our amazing cast and crew. It’s been tough not having a show this year but we cannot wait to get back into it and bring you an awesome show in 2021! PS. 10.01.2022 Dear members and friends, Due to the ongoing restrictions on group numbers, the committee in conjunction with director Em Leon have made the sad decision to cancel our planned production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. We have waited until the very last moment to make this decision so that we could best judge the production's future. We do not want to get anyone's hopes up by trying to start a production without the firm knowledge that we will get to perform it. We also don...’t want to sacrifice the quality of production just to say we did it. The committee would like to thank Em and her production team that have had to endure one postponement already and for wanting to stay committed to the production. Our next planned production will be Mamma Mia! directed by Steve Prescott. We will be holding the information night around May 2021 for a September performance. In the meantime the committee will be working on various other online activities to keep people connected, expect to hear more about that next month!

10.01.2022 We’re excited to announce our leading cast for Mamma Mia! Due to the overwhelming interest in being a part of both ensemble and chorus we will be announcing in a separate post once all cast have been confirmed.

08.01.2022 In the 82 years we have been in the musical business we have produced 132 productions. We are going back through our old programs and adding to our master list of members. Currently we are sitting at 1280 people with many more from the 1940's - 70's to add. Do you have a favourite Musical Society memory?

06.01.2022 Our Robin Hood director and society secretary Meg Smith (on left) met with Diana from Sunraysia Cancer Resources to hand over our donation of $1500 that we were able to raise from our production. We would like to thank their volunteers for helping us in theatre by ushering.

04.01.2022 Tonight's Factoid. 92 is the highest cast and crew number we have had for a production. We reached this number three times, Showboat 1990, Anything Goes 1993 and Les Miserables 2018. The lowest cast and crew amount is 16 for our 2014 production of Nunsense.
