09.01.2022 The 2019 Matilda Awards Ceremony (QLD's theatre industry awards) was held Monday evening at the Brisbane Powerhouse and what a fabulous outcome for Musical Theatre Australia! "A Girl's Guide to World War" picked up 2 fabulous wins!! Susie French took out "Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role' and (drum roll please) Katy Forde and Aleathea Monsour took out 'the big one' (thank you Matilda's!) - "The Lord Mayor's Award For Best New Australian Work" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Katy and Aleathea could not be prouder of the cast and crew that pulled together to bring this show based on the stories of incredible heroic women in our history, to life - a show that has resonated with people on a deep and emotional level. After viewing video evidence that the night did actually occur and the award was not just a figment of their imagination, and also realising that they accidently cut their speech in half from the shock of winning, Katy and Aleathea would like to extend thanks to their wonderful friends and family of the cast and crew, who offered their constant selfless support. And a heartfelt thanks to the Maleny Arts Council, The Events Centre, Caloundra, and Old Ambulance Station. You all helped make AGGTWW what it is! A huge congratulations has to go to the organisers of the Matilda Awards - it was an absolutely wonderful and inspiring evening! The band (Babushka Cabaret), the presenters and the gorgeous hosts (Barbara Lowing and Louise Brehmer) created an evening of warmth and humour and instilled an incredible feeling of support and love for the people who contribute to Queensland's theatre industry. Another huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners! And to everyone who created theatre works throughout QLD last year! And to shake & stir theatre co - we don't think there's a person in QLD theatre today, who isn't inspired by your journey! Congratulations on your superb and deeply deserved win and recognition!!!

08.01.2022 Today we remember all the Anzacs, and at dawn our thoughts turned with profound gratitude to the compassionate, strong-willed women who fought their way into the War. You stood for human dignity. You lessened the suffering of the humans and animals of the battlefields. We love you and admire you more than words can say. You will never be forgotten. #lestweforget

04.01.2022 Hey all! If you love Dr Lilian Cooper, check out the TV series Gentleman Jack on HBO. It's based on a true story of lesbian woman Anne Lister who had that irresistible, unstoppable, almost rockstar quality that attracted us to Dr Cooper. (Plus - Anne wanted to be a doctor too!) Amazing series - love love love it! https://www.hbo.com/gentleman-jack
