23.01.2022 Just finished my morning exercise. Now my focus is on how much energy and joy can I bring into my house for the next 5 minutes that could start a chain reaction... running through my whole family that will make this day feel great. What if I could share that great feeling and create a ripple of energy and joy that could affect everyone I cross paths with today? See more

23.01.2022 The world is crying out for individuality and creativity. Industries everywhere are looking for people who can bring a new perspective to problem solving, creativity and approach. I am loving working with people on the spectrum to enable them to see their worth in the world and often create opportunities to bring their unique perspective to the arts, media and creative industries and contribute.

22.01.2022 Coming into July for me is always a time to reassess and make sure I am on track with my life. For many, its hard to know what that even means. How do you know if you are on track? Do you know where you are going? Do you know what you want? If you are tired of feeling tired, if you are feeling hopeless around making your dreams come true, then this is for you. Read on...

21.01.2022 MY CHILD WON'T DO AS THEY ARE TOLD!!! It can be frustrating, I get it. Learning to learn takes time. It's a fact that our brains develop at different times, but also, we as humans are only capable of things like focus, persistence, understanding why, empathy, right from wrong etc once we reach certain ages. It's important to remember that learning and homework are a journey, not a result. They are there to be experienced and practiced, not accomplished. If we could do them ...Continue reading

16.01.2022 I am really loving my work at the moment. To see people's confidence grow and self belief blossom while we tackle fun music and media projects and developing skills that become valuable in the workforce creating future possibilities....my life rocks.

15.01.2022 Our limitations and failures are the key to our success. 1) There is always something to learn when our expectations don't match our results. i.e. failure. The... trick is to fail forward. Why didn't it work? Is this really what will get me my ultimate result? What is different in ME, now compared to when I succeeded last time and can I make a change and get a better result? 2) Maybe you can't tie your shoe laces, but you can find a pattern in a sequence of variables (puzzles, music, data processing) like a super hero. Focus on your gift and stop "trying" to be normal. Find a way to contribute to others using your super power. Maybe you can't run, but when you smile it lights up the room. Maybe you know how to make people be present and remember what really matters in life. 3) Find Creative Solutions. Often the result we are after is a separate issue to the vehicle we chose to get that result. So, I want an income but I can't get a job as an Uber driver because I can't drive. OK, let's get creative then. In what way CAN you contribute to someone else that they would pay you for? Who could you ask? Let's say you want to be productive and contribute but you struggle with communicating and losing your temper. OK, so can you work independently or remotely most of the time? Can you come up with a process to better communicate that not only helps you, but that other people might benefit from? Could you teach or demonstrate this with some help to create an online tool that could help others? Or, could you find a way where you could be helpful without having to have other people in your space? In my programs working with people on the spectrum, we seek to understand what strengths we have and how we can use those to contribute to others. This creates opportunities, builds self-esteem and and changes the story of being "broken" into the truth of being a valuable member of your community. I am currently working on a one-on-one basis with clients receiving NDIS funding on changing their story from one of helplessness to hero. Big or small, the ability to make a contribution to others and find purpose lifts our spirits and changes our perception of ourselves. I am taking on new clients at the moment, so if you are interested, please get in touch. My focus is on developing, self-esteem, confidence, communication, social interaction, business and vocational skills using music performance and production as a vehicle. PM or comment below. 14.01.2022 BIG NEWS. A project, very dear to our hearts here at Music is The Key, is www.happyhappystories.com WHY? Well, go to their site and see how they are changing the lives of children all over the world for starters! AND, one of our very own students, Daniel Clark is joining their team. Daniel has been diagnosed with Awesome-ism. Now, might struggle with every day procedures sometimes, but he has real talent and focus when it comes to music and audio editing.... We have been working with Dan a period of time to develop the skills he would need to turn up, edit audio tracks and follow through on time. Daniel has gone from student to vital member of the Happy Happy Stories team. Huge congratulations to Daniel for his hard work and persistence. So, now the stories that Daniel helps edit, will go out into the world to inspire young children who might also be facing challenges. We just know that Daniel and these stories are going to make a real difference in the world. Go check it out... www.happyhappystories.com See more

12.01.2022 Weird? Not normal? Labelled? Uniquely inspired? Isn't it a funny thing. So often we fear or try to "correct" difference. Unless of course you make a positive difference. When what makes you weird can be channeled into a way to contribute to others, well, then you become valuable, sort after, needed, celebrated. You have a place in the world. I believe every musician, artist, inventor, and leader has felt judged by society as weird at some point in their lives. The turn around point is when your unique inspiration, can be harnessed to make other people's lives better. And that is our focus at Music Is The Key. Finding YOUR contribution. The one you can make by just being YOU.

12.01.2022 Self esteem. Self care. Follow through. Curiosity. Compassion. Expression. Contribution. These are the main attributes I aim to bring out in the clients I work with in my individualised 1-on-1 music programs. What is important to you?

07.01.2022 What activity do you naturally spend time focused on? In what context could that be of service to someone else? How do you set yourself up to provide that service to them, in a way and environment a supportive environment, that works for you? These are the questions I use when working with young adults on the Spectrum. How do we take what is great about you and use it to serve another? That leads to purpose, self- esteem, employment be and more independence.

05.01.2022 If you care for someone who is on the spectrum (...all of us) and is struggling with self esteem, a lack of purpose or direction, anxiety or depression but have an interest in music.... Then this video is for you. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or leave a comment below.

03.01.2022 Setbacks! No! We all get them. But what is your response? I've lessened over the years to change my expectations. So I'll react in the moment and throw myself o...n the ground and Chuck an adult tantrum! Then, I'll remind myself, that if the way forward is blocked, GO UP! Reach for something better than you thought you could have. Rather than see it as a sign that you over extended or should think smaller or should settle for less, EXPECT BETTER. Take it as a sign to think bigger, better and easier. All quality questions of yourself "So, is there a better way? What was I tolerating that I don't have to? Who would be the ideal person to work with on this? What would a bigger result be? What would feel better?" Amplify your results and the way you feel. Turn your problem into an opportunity to expand. 02.01.2022 Obsessive behaviour, focus, narrow field of interest.... These can sometimes be seen as disfunctional or broken. But as soon as you find a way to contribute to others, people start using words like GIFTED, EXCEPTIONAL, PRODIGY, DETERMINED. When you don't fit the mold and can't be "normal", find YOUR way to contribute and be exceptional. Find your place in the world using what makes you unique. Please follow this page and keep up to date on new resources and posts coming soon.

01.01.2022 Is time management and remembering appointments a problem for you? Or someone you care for? Well, you are not alone. From my observations and from the millions of books written about time management and scheduling, I think many many people struggle with this to different degrees. But if this is a REAL problem for you, then chances are you are trying to tackle this problem using "other people's thinking", rather than capitalising on your own strengths and team and strategie...s for success. If you are not naturally a diary kind of person, or your phone calendar seems too complicated than doing things the way "other people" do things could cause more problems rather than take them away. As part of the Music Is The Key program, we get curious and we look at what works for YOU. If there are things that you always remember, then what is different about those times to the other times that you regularly forget? Are there things you do every day or every couple of days without fail that we could "tie" or link your reminders to? Who is on your team that can help you with this and what is the best way for you to communicate what you need? PATIENCE. For some people, this being-organised-stuff really is challenging. So ask for consistency, perseverance and progress rather than perfection. This really is about finding and committing to systems that work for who you naturally are and then taking small consistent steps to work towards great results. See more

01.01.2022 I would just like to put this out there! If your children are not around special needs children at school and have never been taught that not everyone is the same then maybe you could take 10 min tonight to explain this to them because even though they may not be around these children at school they will encounter them in their lives, as it should be. In the light of recent events on the exclusion of a child who has autism from participating in a school trip and a child with ...Downs Syndrome being kicked out of dance class because she couldn't keep up, I feel the need to share this. There are boys and girls that nobody invites to birthday parties. There are special kids who want to belong to a team but don't get selected because it is more important to win than include these children. Children with special needs are not rare or strange, they only want what everyone else wants: to be accepted !! For all the wonderful children out there. Can I ask a question? Is there anyone willing to copy and paste this post to their wall without sharing it, like I did for those special children out there See more
