15.01.2022 From the Music Mill Vault one of the most unusual TVCs we’ve ever worked on. Very bold creative for OPSM. It was a challenge because instead of finding and licensing songs, we needed to find and license a speech by Dr Cornel West. West is an American philosopher, political activist, social critic, Professor, Hip Hop artist. and famous for addressing the question of What is Style? Lots of detective work and interesting negotiations, because nobody really knew how much to charge for a speech. Brilliant work by David Nobay, Scott Huebscher, Simon Harsent, Holly Alexander, and many others.
11.01.2022 We were very happy to help the Australian Aged Care Collaboration (a group of six aged care peak bodies) with their current campaign. We did a music search, found a classic old dance track, and licensed it for a great price. A lovely spot via the agency Industrial Australia, with an unexpected ending. #songsforadvertising #synclicensing #MusicMill
08.01.2022 From the Music Mill Vault a spot from a few years back, when Tourism clients didn’t have to think about plagues, borders, and vaccines. For a while they seemed like the glory days, never to return, but they’re coming back watch this space! This one was for Tourism Queensland, featuring an absolutely stunning version of Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know by local artist Sahara Beck. I’ve watched this spot hundreds of times over the years, and her voice still gives me goose bumps. #songsforadvertising #SyncLicensing #MusicMill
08.01.2022 From the Music Mill Vault reaching back into the past to bring you an incredibly low-budget song for the iconic Wrangler Jeans brand. This is a nice little example of what we can find, even when you don’t have a bucket of money. From a Brisbane band called Go Van Go, the song has all of 1,000 streams on Spotify, but it sure works for this spot. Sounds a bit like the Stones, yeah? #songsforadvertising #synclicensing #musicmill
05.01.2022 What a coup for Australian music a sync licence for Apple Air Pods with a song by Brisbane artist Young Franco. Here’s the amazing story as told to us at Music Mill. Young Franco is writing Fallin’ Apart, and decides he wants to sample Things Fall Apart by Nigerian artist Steve Monite. Gaga Music are the local reps for Monite, they talk to various people, and Voila the deal is done. But wait then Monite’s US publisher loves the song so much they pitch it to Apple. Two weeks later the sync is over the line. Gotta love this business! Superb TVC, and a brilliant song that complements the fabulous performance of athlete/jumper Kengo Sugino. 01.01.2022 The verdict is finally in! Universal won big and the judge crucified Clive. He might have saved over a million dollars if he had called us first. :-) #songsforadvertising #synclicensing #musicmill
