23.01.2022 Hi. Im Kym. I thought I was running exceptionally inclusive classes here. I thought I was queen of inclusivity. I thought I had that nailed. Its high time I acknowledge I havent done enough to be inclusive of our First Nations people. ... Truth be told, in these last few years as awareness was opening, Ive felt like (me as a white woman) singing indigenous peoples songs in my music classes may actually fall under the banner of cultural appropriation. So I used sparingly. As I just wasnt sure. In touchy territory, I used my white privilege (I now see) to sweep it under the rug. And I see that now. We really are all one and we really are all love and because of that knowing, I didnt really see colour. And that, I see only now, adds to the white privilege problem weve created in the world right now. Once youve seen it you cant unsee it. (In Case I need to explain that still...... Because I have a choice not to see colour. People of colour dont. Which you can see clearly in listening to all the stories of racism being shared so freely at the moment) The #blacklivesmatter and my subsequent hashtag searching, soul searching listening that has been happening for me has brought this now loud and clear into my music room. I see you. You matter. Black lives do indeed matter. End of story. So how do I add change in the world. How do I add progress in my world. I need to actually vote with my wallet with where I stand here. My action is this. I will purchase whatever songs and sheet music are available to me to buy from Aboriginal people. I will to promote more Aboriginal music. I will make Aboriginal songs more prominent in class so all the young folk who come into the music room (of all differing backgrounds) will have Australias Indigenous songs held within them from early childhood. The songs will become a part of themselves. A memory to treasure. I will support Aboriginal artists/companies by purchasing their music when I can, and spreading it out to all the humans who come through my door. Humans of all races. 23.01.2022 Rainy morning activities. Do you colour in with your kids? It can be a great lesson in letting go of our ordered structured perfectness and allowing creative mojo free reign. Allowing Creative Mojo free reign ...... now that is a good sentence. I could liken that to my music classes too. In actual fact its perfect for ALL of my teachings as of course my way seeps through ALL that I do, including through the entire of my business. And that my friends is my way in a nuts...hell. Yes I let him use my good pens and good pencils it is the only way. All relationships are built on trust but it is reciprocal trust remember. It runs both ways. Our Little humans are people too. And yes of course I let him colour my good books with me too. Looking back, I love seeing the progression. Its all such a good wholesome way to spend time together. 20.01.2022 Had such a great day at Donnas studio today! Ever walked past on the way to class and thought oo I would love to try pottery and the wheel ..... well I highly recommend it. Noah does too. Simply D Ceramics check it out and book your class. Donnas style of teaching is good. She gave us all the info, helped and guided our hands into position on our first attempt and then let us do it ourselves second attempt to learn from the mistakes we were bound to make while learning the... groove of the clay. My first bowl I splendidly buggared up but it is beautiful and so I left it as is. Actually I was encouraged to leave it as is (See wonky photo) and my second one is a pretty little plain bowl done correctly, but I prefer the wonky beauty all the same. Here’s an image of my son playing his Nuvo Instrumental dood (beginners clarinet) which is soooooooooooooooooooooo much better than a recorder ps These things are wonderful for players to learn logical finger placement and gentle embouchure and breath technique before they’re old enough to handle a traditional clarinet etc. love them. ... And how cute is Noah’s face! They still Have to be ‘taught’ though it is a wonderful Wonderful place to start on a more ‘real’ band instrument. Need a hobby out side of the home? This ones for you. Want to meet some other beautiful women folk? This one for you. Kind of keen for a womans circle but dont want so much woo woo? This ones for you. Like the idea of changing vibrations and being aware of vibrations on your body? This ones for you. Kind of like a small choir. But its a singing lesson..... in a small group so maybe not so out there as Singing by yourself and a whole lot more fun. With me teaching and leading on guitar or piano or drums or whatever we need at the time. We all might even do some drumming! Drum circle/singing circle. This class will go wherever it is needed to help you find your sweet spot ~ in your voice ~ In your self. My lessons are not structured to a learning plan and I will lead whatever is needed at the time for the individuals in the group to relax into finding their own unique deeply vibrational voice. On our way to finding it. We will own it and transformation sits here. Consider yourself the caterpillar We all know what comes next. No joke. Thats what happens in this style of class. You own yourself. You own your vibration. Maybe you need to find yourself first. It will come. Your voice becomes more powerful. Your intention becomes more powerful. 10.01.2022 What do YOU do for YOU? Just for you. ONLY for you. To ‘fill your cup’ as they say. Self care is such a varied concept. ... And changes day to day. And must be allowed to change day to day if your ‘self care thing’ is to truly remain self care and not become a ‘should do’. I hope ALL Mums recognise this already. That is my wish leading into this winter solstice. Sometimes my self care thing is just so so small, a fleeting moment being enough as being so monumental to my mental health..... sometimes it is a grand 2 hours of clay and learning to throw my first large piece!!! (This was over 2kg of clay. And I’m a new potter So I’m pretty chuffed) So seriously folks. What do YOU do. For YOU. Yes I truly want to know. Yesterday, I Magic’ed a large bowl from a massive lump of clay today I drank coffee in the sunshine while chatting to some beautiful homeschool Mummas while our children all played together in the park. Sometimes I sit and play guitar without an intention. When I play without an intention all sorts of magic comes forth. Sometimes I do that on a yidaki or a drum or anything really. Sometimes I sit at the beach by myself. Sometimes I whole heartedly play for me, with my son but FOR me, making sand animals at the beach. Sometimes we make nature mandalas, again with my son but FOR me. Sometimes I simply notice more of nature than usual, which connects me to our earth and sustains me through the bigger loss of ‘me’ time, I might notice which trees are already bare, and which are newly turning, or the specific redness of those leaves and that helps me ground myself to the earths axis of that particular time. Voila. My cup runneth over! You???

03.01.2022 Music making is truly for all abilities. Drum kit set up from my therapy style lesson today back face to face! So. Much. Fun. Seeing a 20 odd something man who has not a lot of words actually being able to sing out while making up drumming patterns and keeping to them with both pedals = awesome start to my new term 3 thank you buddy! ... Music soothes the body/mind/spirit. Music flips vibrations and wholly transforms. Music creates change. Music creates good wholesome feelings of Joy. And I get to see this daily. How lucky I am.

Mr. MusicPlay (Damien) is back working again after covid restrictions in schools lifting so now Were back on the hunt for a house to call home somewhere local to the music room, so Im putting it out there in case anyone has any insider knowledge of rental real estate coming up etc. cant believe weve not had a home in all this time! Not how I imagined our life to be but hey, learning to live joyfully in surrender to what actually is has been a most wonderful outcome of all this chaos. Anything and everything truly is possible.
