25.01.2022 WAM BOARD UPDATE The 2020 WAM Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday 21st July, this time as a digital meeting. A big thank you to those members who participated. The WAM Board and staff are pleased to welcome Geraldine Rey, who will be joining our Board along with returning members Chris Edmondson and Toby Browne-Cooper. We would like to thank and acknowledge the contributions of Aysha Amani, retiring board member after two years of service on the Board.

25.01.2022 After careful consideration of an impressive collection of applicants from across the Mid West region, were excited to reveal the ten artists selected for our Sounds of The Mid West regional recording project and compilation album! A HUGE congratulations to Jade Jackson, Carrum Mourambine, Vince Jones, Warriyangga Warralgurniya (Bundiyarra Irra Wangga Language Centre), Theona Councillor, Gus McKay Bluesman, Alexia Parenzee, Ian Weggler Music, Good Strife and Nicky Robson! The artists will be joining some of WAs best sound producers this month as we record their original songs at the Queens Park Theatre thanks to our partnership with the City of Greater Geraldton. Sounds of The Mid West is possible thanks to the ongoing support of the State Government of WA through the Contemporary Music Fund.

25.01.2022 With our 'Demos from Binjareb (Peel Region)' compilation out in the world, it's time to celebrate with our live album launch at Ravenswood Hotel! A special free entry event, join us for a HUGE night of original live music featuring MC Dom Bayens from ABC South West and live performances from our 10 compilation acts. It all kicks off at 6pm, with every music-lover getting a copy of the limited edition CD package to remember the night. 20.01.2022 We’re calling on lovers of live music to help protect our venues by engaging with the City of Perth’s Northbridge Special Entertainment Precinct proposal. Venues within the precinct will have additional protections against noise complaints and residential properties, with two proposed areas currently on the table! Option B (below left) proposed by the WA State Dept of Planning, Lands and Heritage features a larger core area, with Amendment No. 41 proposed by City of Perth allowing a higher dB level. 11.01.2022 We are saddened by the news of the passing of another West Australian musical great, John Meyer. John leaves behind a truly remarkable legacy through his guitar playing as a member of some of WA and Australias biggest names in music. They include Fatty Lumpkin, power trio Saracen, Swanee, Rose Tattoo and Chain. Johns achievements were well recognised by the industry and his peers, which included the awarding of many WAMis over the years. After his stint with Chain, John imm...ersed himself in composing and producing his music for film, TV and advertising, undertaking session work and music teaching. Along with his studio work, John mentored and tutored many up and coming artists, imparting the extensive industry skill and knowledge he absorbed over his years in music. His talents were admired by all who saw or heard him play, which left many in awe of his incredibly skilful guitar playing.
