25.01.2022 If ever a name was synonymous with movie soundtracks, it was Ennio Morricone. Morricone did not make his debut in film music until he composed the score for Luciano Salce’s Il Federale in 1961. By then he had gained a solid grounding in serious classical composition. He was born in Rome, one of five children of Mario Morricone, a musician. Born 1928, Morricone took up the trumpet and wrote his first composition aged six. He studied classical music and after graduating began ...writing scores for theatre and radio. He was hired as an arranger by the label RCA in Italy and also began writing for pop artists. But it was his film scores that brought him the most fame. Ennio Morricone 1928-2020 One of the best film composers of all time.

12.01.2022 "We hope to encourage you, enlighten you, inspire you, bring light to you." Every once in a while, I get a "Hi Miss Melysa, I would like to share this with you..." slipped in my Instagram DM or email and it absolutely makes my day. I taught this pair of siblings (twins actually) for a few years when I was in Malaysia till my move to Melbourne. Shortly after my move, they moved to Hong Kong. ... The girls together with their two other brothers used to have piano and violin lessons a few times a week. At times, I would have my phone ringing before 7am on random days, with this tiny voice at the other end whispering, "Miss Melysa, we are not going to school today, can we have lessons now?". I was (and still) so not a morning person, but when they called, I would almost always say yes, and in less than an hour, we would all be at the piano playing. Literally playing. Yes, I always answered their crazy hour calls because too adorable I couldn't not! I'm a sucker like that... Music lessons were often like play dates with them. Often picking up impromptu pieces they would like to play/ sing/ work out harmonies or even just tinkled around trying to make up their own song. They loved to play pretend performances, always a lot of fun and giggles working together. They also took their fun seriously with a lot of effort in what they did. At times, the mom would pop in with drinks and cakes the girls baked, and lesson for the day would become an impromptu little concert complete with refreshments! This was from two years ago. The song is written by Kai Leng (Kaelyn, the first to sing in this video). A song they so lovingly dedicated to their grandmother, a Chinese Opera singer, who I can safely say played the biggest role in their love for music. The girls did not pursue music professionally, this was done purely for fun and for the love of music, as well as a gift to themselves so that years later, they can look back and cherish the memories they make together. However, if you look at the information of the the video, you would notice the name of the producer and arranger, Andrew Tuason. Andrew Tuason was a producer and musical director for some big names Hong Kong artists such as Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau, Jackie Chan, Alan Tam and Coco Lee. I hope their music brings the brightest smile to your heart, just like they did to mine. "If music be the food of love, play on." https://youtu.be/_bWYV6FLxNg
