Children in our community need foster care for many different reasons. Some may need care for a few days or weeks, others for weeks or months and for some a long term home is required. SSI provides support for children and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. Our special focus is to keep children connected to their culture and language and we are looking for people who can make this happen. We warmly invite you to contact us to find out more about becoming a foster carer with SSI SSI Multicultural Foster Care | strengthening children through culture p: (02) 8713 9200 e: [email protected] Image: Dor Achiek, SSI Youth Projects Coordinator

13.01.2022 United 4 Kids was honoured again to host the 2018 Foster Care Eid Party. With the help and support of so many contributors it turned out to be another beautiful... and memorable day. Our efforts and intentions behind this event are to give the children and their foster families a day where they can relax, have fun and enjoy each others company as well as to connect with other families who are living in the same situations. What we give them on this one day is not near enough to what they deserve for everything they do for our community. All our love and respect go to the foster carers and their families for being there for our children. We hope all the families that came enjoyed themselves and we look forward to seeing you all again next year. 04.01.2022 *Foster Carers Required* Creating Links needs urgent help with recruiting Muslim foster carers for 4 children. These children are very traumatised and were very unsettled to start with. The cares have worked hard with them to settle them down. There is an acknowledgement that they cannot be placed together so we are recommending the following breakdown and the personality traits of the proposed carers. ... (male) aged 7 and (female) aged 4 - Carers aged 27 to 50 - Arab background - Firm yet patient with Routine and rules - Experience working with children with challenging behaviours and trauma informed or willing to be trained. - Own children aged 14+ is acceptable - Willingness to engage with carers of siblings - Has a great support network which may include but not limited to extended family, school, friends and neighbours. - Willingness to engage within the community (male) aged 12 and (female)aged 11 - Carers aged 27 to 50 - Does not have to be culturally matched although preferable - Own children can be either older male and/or younger female - Experience working with children with challenging behaviours and trauma informed or willing to be trained. - Firm yet patient with Routine and rules - Has a decent support network which may include but not limited to extended family, school, friends and neighbours - Willingness to engage within the community If anyone is interested in saving these kids and preserving their faith, by becoming carers - please contact Danny Mikati 0414970938 or [email protected]
