23.01.2022 Introducing our second panelist for our upcoming event, Inside the Life of a Lawyer: Zena Dabboussy-Bardouh Zena studied a Bachelor of Arts degree at USYD from 1994-1996, graduating with majors in Aboriginal Studies; Arab & Islamic Culture; and Government. Zena completed her Bachelor of Laws degree at the USYD in 1999. Zena commenced her legal career in 2000 as an Associate to a Supreme Court judge in the Common Law division of the Supreme Court of NSW.... Zena transitioned to working in private practice in Insurance Litigation in mid-2002 with Abbott Tout Solicitors. From 2003 to 2007, Zena busied herself by having 3 children, where she also worked alongside her partner to build their property portfolio, before returning to work as In-House Legal Counsel for a heavy engineering company in 2009. For the following 2 years, Zena led the heavy engineering company’s legal department, working on projects throughout Australia and internationally that involved the fabrication, transportation, construction and commissioning of recycling plants, desalination plants, power stations, coal and gold mines, and mooring facilities. In 2012, Zena took a leap of faith and applied her varied skillset in public practice, private practice and as in-house counsel, to open her own legal practice, aptly named ZDB Legal Services. Zena practices from Croydon and services clients in the areas of Property, Employment, Family, Estate Planning, Franchising, Commercial, Building & Construction, ADR and Debt Recovery. During her time at Allens, Fatimah working in the banking and real estate practice groups.... In December 2015, Fatimah moved in-house to join the legal team at Allianz. She was responsible for advising on retail insurance products and their distribution, as well as related legal, regulatory and contractual issues. She also worked on significant projects, including the Hayne Royal Commission. Last year, Fatimah took up a role at the Financial Rights Legal Centre. Due to the voluntary nature of work, we appreciate that the level of your time commitment is flexible. We generally expect all committee members to attend monthly meetings but otherwise we appreciate that everyone is busy and we try to accommodate everyone's schedules and work/study commitments.
