25.01.2022 Community Garden interview with 6PR Radio 2021-04-25

22.01.2022 G'day family, As planned, the Perth and Peel post-lockdown restrictions are set to be significantly eased further from midnight tonight (12.01am Saturday, May 1). A small number of transitional measures will remain in place until Saturday, May 8: Masks are not required outside except where physical distancing is not possible; Masks are mandatory for indoor public venues, including in the workplace and on public transport. Exemptions apply including for medical reasons and... primary school aged children or younger. People should use common sense and take a mask with them whenever they leave home; 30-person limit in all homes for private gatherings; All businesses, workplaces and higher education can now reopen. Places of worship can reopen to 100 per cent capacity. Contact registers are mandatory. It is vital that all Western Australians ensure they are registering their contact details at businesses and venues. The SafeWA app is an efficient and safe way to assist contact tracing if it is required. I look forward to seeing you in person (though behind a mask) at the Community Garden on Saturday and services on Sunday. Blessings, PJ While I have your attention... we are in the process of updating our database. Please update your information in our Elvanto database ("YBC-HQ") - it is the source of all our information, rostering, group management, attendance data, song resources and running of services. If you already have a user account on YBC-HQ I suggest you log in first and the form should automatically fill in the details we already have for you (this will save you time and effort). If you don't have an account, or have difficulty accessing your account, let me know and we'll set it up for you. This will make it easier for you to manage your roster and be notified of updates, new songs to learn etc... YBC-HQ Update Form - https://hq.yokinebaptist.church//4a3f2d84-e572-462a-9061-7 P.S. I'll have a camera & tripod set up on Sunday also, so we can update everyone in preparation for producing a long-overdue Church Family Directory.

21.01.2022 Great new! With no new cases of commuynity spread, the sate government has announced that our snap 3-day lockdown is over. Please check the potential exposure sites and take a Covid test if they have been at any of these sites. The advice is to take the test if you have been in one of the listed places and not to wait to see if you become unwell and to do so will help keep our community safe. https://www.wa.gov.au//covid-19-coronavirus-locations-visi... There are some restrictions remining in place for the next few days, but they should all be lifted by Saturday morning, which means there should be no impact on this weekend's Community Garden or Church services. These are the restrictions that remain in place until midnight Saturday morning. Masks: Masks must be worn at all times when outside of your place of residence, unless there is an exception that applies such as vigorous outdoor exercise. This includes at all workplaces and on public transport If you have been in Perth or Peel since April 17 and now in another region, you must wear a mask in public For people who are deaf or hard of hearing, you will be able to remove your mask, if necessary, to communicate. Writing notes, pointing or the speech to text app, where possible, are encouraged Gatherings: Maximum of 20 people permitted for private indoor and outdoor gatherings Masks should be worn by people who do not reside at the home Work You can return to work, however those who can work from home or require support are encouraged to continue doing so Wear a mask at work, on public transport and when travelling in a private vehicle with people you do not reside with If you are unwell, stay home. Venue capacity limits - The 20 person capacity limit and 4sqm rule applies to the following venues: Hospitality venues (cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs). Seated service only Beauty salons, hairdressers and barbers Public venues such as recreation centres, outdoor playgrounds, museums and swimming pools Places of worship Entertainment venues (cinemas and theatres) Contact registers: It is mandatory for most businesses and venues to maintain a contact register, and people visiting these premises must check-in The WA Government’s SafeWA app is an easy way for people to easily check-in at businesses Paper-based registers must also be made available as an alternative. Visit the Contact registers page for more information.

18.01.2022 We are now collecting donations of food for Uniting Aid, as well as giving them fresh veggies from our garden.

17.01.2022 Great time of the year to be gardening. Cool mornings and warm days. Perfect conditions for growing vegies. Come down and take a look at how to grow a few vegies in your backyard.

15.01.2022 Winter veggies looking great. We can do it so can you if you follow a few basic steps. Plant in season, add water, fertilizer and spend time in the garden. We have constructed a new garden bed specifically for wheelchairs. The compost bins are for your use. Enjoy.

12.01.2022 Enjoying a great morning with Activate Mental Health

The garden is full of colour and healthy looking veggies thanks to the fantastic efforts of all our volunteers. Why not visit for a chat and a few tips on growing good veggies.

08.01.2022 *** SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT *** Perth is entering a 5-day covid lockdown from 6pm tonight, effective to 6pm Friday 5th February. Venues closed include pubs, bars and clubs, gyms and indoor sporting venues, playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor recreational areas, cinemas, entertainment venues, casinos, libraries and cultural institutions and PLACES OF WORSHIP. Restaurants and cafes are only permitted to operate on a takeaway basis.... The school holidays have been extended for a week with schools to remain closed for the next five days. Funerals have been slashed to 10 people and all weddings have been cancelled for the next five days. No visitors are permitted in people’s homes unless in the case of an emergency. No visitors are permitted to aged care homes except under exceptional circumstances. You will be allowed out once per day to shop for essentials. Effective immediately, all in-person church activities, including home groups and community garden are cancelled, unless you can conduct them electronically. This is a fluid situation that may change rapidly. If the lockdown is extended beyond Friday, we will need to move church services online and cancel Saturday’s community garden. We’ll try to give you as much notice as possible if this becomes necessary. Let your friends and family know if they aren’t on Facebook. Please let Pastor Jason know if the lockdown is causing you undue hardship.
