20.01.2022 ‘Transient’ - Rebecca Delaney, exhibition showing until 23 December 2020 ‘Transient’ explores the typology of a disappearing landscape. The paintings depict terra firma that is engulfed by water evoking an experience of impermanent transformation. The details in the landscapes disappear through multiple layers of paint, which in turn documents the past through encapsulating a fleeting moment. The blurred landscapes create a sense of the ephemeral, speaking to the ever shiftin...g physical landscape. 15.01.2022 Memory & Lurking Bruce Tindale discusses photography and current exhibition 'Memoir of Surface' showing at Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre until 23 December 2020. Truth is fundamentally dead, says Debord. In a sense, the subject is contextualised into a photograph that assumes art as a reality. The primary theme of photography is that it provides a paradigm of reality. This is of course a ruse as is the common ground between analogue and digital worlds. Refracted light wa...s never going to resemble reality any more than a child shopping for fancy dress costumes at the $2 shop will achieve the dizzy heights of Captain Kidd’s career choices (he never owned a camera, so no Caribbean selfies there). - Bruce Tindale, Memory & Lurking. use link to read in full https://www.flipsnack.com/muswellbrookregi//full-view.html Image: Bruce Tindale, 'Anonymous #2' 1989, scanned Polaroid image, giclée print on German Etch Paper A/P, 60 x 60cm, featured in 'Memoir of Surface'.

04.01.2022 Q&A - Ros Elkin What led you to be an artist? Inspired at an early age by the colours of Cuisenaire Rods (age 6 years old), I knew then that I wished to be an artist. I entered many colouring and art competitions in newspapers till the age of 16 winning many prizes. Being an artist helped me to express my feelings and gave me an avenue to cope with stressful situations.... How do you approach your work? It is important to have self-discipline when it comes to managing your time. As my art developed during... 03.01.2022 Sylvia Ray 'Kintsugi Earth 2017' 2019, silk screen and hand colouring featured in Newcastle Printmakers Workshop 40/40, exhibitionshowing until 23 December 2020. 40/40 sees each artist allocated a year to explore; to create an image based on an event or memory of historical or personal significance. 'In 2017 I spent time in Japan. Kintsugi "golden joinery" is a Japanese art of repairing ceramics. The technique uses lacquer dusted or mixed with gold. Rather than discard th...e piece or attempt to disguise the breakage, Kintsugi highlights it, beautifying the damage and making it part of its ongoing history. Human mismanagement has damaged Earth our home. Kintsugi Earth 2017 pays homage to the many people that are working towards restoring Earth's equilibrium. The damage to Earth cannot be ignored or hidden but we can all join to restoring Earth's beauty.'
