25.01.2022 Loving our new location on Park street in Mona Vale. So many happy creative kids are making art in the Studio each week! Im proud that art is celebrated in this community and that I get to share my passion with such wonderful young artists. We have a paint brush guessing competition happening this week in our classes. 21.01.2022 Some lovely Doctors had their work Christmas party in the Studio last night. They plan on hanging these fab paintings in their office! They had amazing food catered by Ivvy foods to create a perfect end of year celebration
21.01.2022 We studied Rayner Hoff’s sculpture the ‘Australian Venus’ and then created these ink wash and charcoal drawings on Stonehenge paper. We also looked at a favourite artist of mine Brett Whiteley and his expressive nudes. So proud of my high school students.

19.01.2022 I am excited to say that my daughter Leah has had her HSC Visual Arts majorwork nominated for Art Express. We are thrilled it was recognised for its strong conceptual message in a time when communication is so important. Leah explores the idea of a ‘Universal Language’ through the exploration of nautical flags, semaphore and Morse code. As you view the work an audio plays with the sounds of waves slapping against a boat, wind howling and Morse code saying ‘I desire to communicate with you’. (Her artist’s statement is attached). We had it displayed in the Studio for a week prior to her submission date and it was wonderful to see the reactions and hear the discussions and interpretations from my students... which is what art is all about! Fingers crossed we will see it exhibited in the Art Gallery of NSW

17.01.2022 All of our high school classes had an exciting lesson last week life drawing with Conille Felias and her daughter Sabina as the model! The students were challenged with capturing the line of action, movement and expression in their drawings that ranged from 20 seconds to 5 minute poses. New skills on how to hold and use a progresso/pencil to achieve different lines. Lots of smiles and a real treat to have Conille share her amazing figure drawing skills with the art school students x
16.01.2022 Succulent study looking at composition and learning about the importance of tone and colour. I could have posted all of the paintings! So proud of the skills these teenagers are developing and their individual styles showing through in this class task x

13.01.2022 A wet afternoon visit to Manly Art Gallery to see some amazing drawings. Joanna Gambotto’s large scale charcoal artworks were brilliant and Nick Hollo worked absolute magic with oil pastels!
13.01.2022 We looked at famous Australian artist Margaret Preston in the Primary school classes this week. We re-created her Implement blue thinking about how the artist carefully planned the shadows to make this dramatic composition! Then we drew her still life using ink tense pencils.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to Alessia Marrocco who is a FINALIST in the YOUNG ARCHIES 2020!!!! Her portrait drawing of Papa Alf will hang alongside the Archibald Prize at the Art Gallery of NSW. Such an amazing achievement. Alessia has been a student at our Art School for 7 years now and it has been an absolute pleasure to see her talent and passion for art grow. 03.01.2022 Acrylic paint on panels using inspiration from Frankie Magazine on an interesting exploration of the architecture of these quirky Churches in India built in the 1960s ... striking pastels, futuristic shapes and garish decorative facades perfect to look at composition and design elements!!
