23.01.2022 And a very Happy New Year to all. We throw that around so easily - happy new year - just rolls off our tongues, but this year I really wish the best to you all. I wish this virus to p**s off. I wish those who have been struggling mentally some peace coz heaven knows you’ve been tested this year. I wish those having a tough time financially to find a pathway out of it. Then once we’ve got all that out of the way, I’m hoping this year has made us more caring about the smaller d...etails, the importance of family and really good friends and finally I hope we all find something fantastic, amazing and awe inspiring to mark 2021. Let’s make this year go further than just recovery. Let’s make it memorable for all the right reasons! 12.01.2022 Time for a contemporary makeover for this couple in their 70’s! They love the warmth of the new decor and the inviting feel. They’re chuffed having a room that doesn’t look like old fuddy duddies live in it. This makeover was special in that the couple opted to spend most of their budget on the gorgeous bone inlay chest of drawers and then we painted their old mahogany bedside tables in a soft grey and changed over the handles to suit the chest of drawers. They look fab! We touched up their lovely painting over the bed to include some warm colours and painted the frame as well (zero cost). Same lamps. It all came together nicely. 09.01.2022 Had the opportunity to visit an old client this week. She’s rather young but we go back... you get it. We changed her stair rail. My client felt the old one really dated the house and she wanted something much more contemporary but still fitting in a faux Georgian home. I love the simplicity of it. 06.01.2022 Phew ! The end of a very busy week - had to get into 4th gear just when I was used to cruising in 2nd gear.... Visited Dirk the cabinet maker and inspected our custom cabinet order. Furniture made properly. It’s all solid Oregon to work with the existing woodwork in the very old stately home it’s going in. However we are sneaking in some subtle LED lighting and brass trims. Can’t wait to see it stained and polished and then in place. 06.01.2022 To start the new year off on the right foot I have some fabulous before and after photos. Beautiful older style home and a kitchen that didn’t function for this family with three grown kids. So grown that at least one of them didn’t fit under the entry door to the kitchen. This reno involved moving the doorway slightly to fit in a full depth pantry and adding a barn door for function and charm. The new hood canopy highlights the windows well and the lower cabinets extend to the end of the dining room. Clients are happy. The kitchen now fits everyone and everything in it. The clients also love how social it is. 02.01.2022 Being an interior designer brings all varieties of tasks to perform. I spent all day Monday putting together flat packs, then Monday evening spent restoring our Buddha friend here. Now I’m no expert in Buddha restoration but this fella required shiny new crystals as many of his others had fallen off and then, most challenging, was that he needed new hair. His old hair was disintegrating. So we piped new hair on just like you would pipe icing on a cake. Then today he was put back in his place. Job done.
