23.01.2022 Let’s talking noisey joints. Do you get cracks, pops and clicks? Many can be quite alarmed by the noises their joints make, but we’re here to tell you that these noises are perfectly normal! Noise originating from a joint is called crepitus and can be described as sounds and feelings such as clicking, grinding, popping, clunking and clicking within a joint when it moves. In a study by McCoy et al,. (1987) they investigated 247 symptomatic and 250 normal knees and found that ...99% of subjects had patellofemoral crepitus. More recent research also fails to find any strong correlation to poorer outcomes of knee health for those people who have knee crepitus. Don’t freak out! Embrace your noisey knees and all they can do.
