24.01.2022 We're not usually the review type people, as we usually can't write in "review language". But we're very impressed with this alarm brand and it's features, so here we go, we thought it's too good to not give a bit of a review and our thoughts. Simply, it's a home alarm system from Risco, and it is very good. There, we said we couldn't write in "review speak". There is much more to this system though than just that. It is a very flexible, scalable and extremely user friendly. ...And it has many different sensor and detector options, ranging from wired PIR sensors, reed switches, smoke alarms, shock detectors, wireless sensors, floor detectors, gas sensors, flood sensors, barrier beams, panic wristbands, sirens, strobe lights and even IP cameras to record what is going on and more. It also has many different reporting modules so you can be aware of what is happening at your place. Email notification, push notifications, sms, voice, monitoring stations as examples, means there is no reason you can't always be in control of your security system. All of these can be viewed and adjusted from a very easy to understand and navigate app. Yes it does come with a keypad as well, but once it is set up on the app, the keypad is probably not going to be used anywhere near as much as the app, and this is a good thing, as it means the keypad can be hidden in a secure spot, making it hard for any potential bad guys to find. It of course comes with some very loud and piercing internal and external sirens, which when we tested them out, actually made us feel a bit crook after being exposed to the internal one for a very short time, so make sure you don't accidentally set this system off. We do recommend having these systems installed by qualified and registered security installers as there are a few tricks that can catch people out with the installation and programming. Not to mention how long it takes an unexperienced person to install and program the system. One of the best features though of this system is the "video verification" part. With the ability to connect cctv cameras or built in PIR cameras, you can now see what is happening if you have an alarm go off. This gives you complete control over your response and actions. 10.01.2022 Which one is better? The 2 cameras here may appear similar but at the same time very different. They both serve the same purpose, but do it in slightly different ways. The covered dome type camera is the classic style often seen inside banks and similar institutions. The main advantage of them is that it is very difficult to see where the actual camera is pointing, due to the glass cover. So any person thinking of doing anything slightly or not slightly dodgy just cant be s...ure which camera is pointing at them and recording their every move. They are also very difficult to get a grip on and the actual camera itself cant be moved without removing the cover. Their main drawback is the glass cover can distort and provide reflections on the recording/screen. They also suffer from IR spotting at nightime which can cause bright spots in the recording/screen, which can make identification a bit difficult. Also for some reason depending on how they are mounted, rain can cover the glass and distort the image until it dries. These can be minor issues but also mean the camera is best suited to interior or undercover and well lit areas. The turret type camera doesnt suffer from the same distortion/reflection/blurred or smudged images due to having a separate IR lens to the camera lens. They also generally provide a clearer picture at nightime and usually have a better IR range as there is no glass cover to restrict it. They are better suited for outdoor locations, but their main flaw is that because there is no smooth glass dome, they can be easier to grip and even though they are locked in place, they can be tampered with easier than the dome type. This is where good installation location is important, and generally a proper security adviser can provide that when carrying out a site check for a CCTV installation.
