There is beauty within both perfection and imperfection in nature. But nothing screams out perfection: geometrically, architechtually and aesthetically, than the Dahlia. . . This beauty of 42 species and innumberable amount of hybrids, is greatly know to symbolise: Remaining Graceful Finding Inner Strength Changing in a Positive Way Always be Kind Commitment . . It seems there is no better way to express yourself than with Dahlias in these troubling times of COVID19. . . Hope everyone remembers to keep washing their hands and keeping their social difference with others in public. Stay Safe. . . Some good news though! I don't know if you could tell, but that is my left hand in the photo!! Which means, YES MY FULL TIME SPLINT IS OFF! WOOHOO!! Everything is healing well. 6 weeks of having that splint 24/7 was exhausting but it went pretty fast. 15.01.2022 H E L L O S P R I N G . . Good morning everyone!! Spring is finally here! We had some cold snaps this winter, but we got through it! .... . I hope everyone is staying safe. It has been quite scary for the last week or so in QLD. We have been extremely cautious by wearing masks and sanitising our hands to ensure we are fit to deliver beautiful blooms to your door. . . Do you know of anyone who has been affected by the recent outbreak and is in self quarantine? Do you have loved ones in aged care facilities? Do you have family or friends who are at high risk and need to stay home? . . 13.01.2022 G O L D E N W A T T L E . . Our national floral emblem. The gold and green, from this native flowering tree, is where we get our national colours. .... . My earliest memory of this scented flower is back in my junior years at primary school. Come winter, my school would be full of these blossoms, filling the entire school courtyards and playgrounds with its pungent perfume. . . So whenever I smell Golden Wattles, it takes me back to my early childhood: my school friends, my teachers, the walks (it was legal for children to walk alone back then) to and from school across paddocks, bushes, a tiny creek, pass horses and over fences. I have lots of lovely memories at this school; the best part being that I never felt out of place or feel discriminated by my peers because of the colour of my skin or what different things I would bring for lunch compared to my predominantly Caucasian friends. . . The Golden Wattle represents unity; something we, as a nation and as the human race, very much need against racism and against this pandemic. Don't forget to wash your hands! . . Growing up in an asian family, I had never celebrated, let alone experienced an Australian Christmas in July. . . Coincidentally, the 25th of this month falls on a Saturday - POP UP STORE DAY!! . . So it is no surprise, our theme this week is "An Aussie Winter Christmas" (We had to change our gold and white theme due to availability of colours) . . We have a variety of colours and textures to suit every family: from reds to greens to blues to whites. All we need is this rain to turn into snow . . 01.01.2022 S I M P L I C I T Y A T I T S F I N E S T . . Sometimes, less is more. .... . Nothing screams SPRING like a nice budding branch and a bulb flower - Tulip. . . Tulips don't like too much water in the vase. Be sure to trim off any leaves below the water line. . . Funny fact about Tulips: the stems keep growing and elongating after it has been cut! So make sure you put them in a long and narrow vase so that it can support the stems as it grows. Place them in a well sunlit room to ensure nice straight growth. . . 01.01.2022 W E A R E B A C K . . Thank you everyone who sent lovely messages when we had to close due to the Logan COVID outbreak a couple of weeks back. .... . We are sorry to have caused any inconvenience from order cancellations and delays in replies. . . @mw_floral_design decided to be closed for a prolonged period than previously announced for our own safety, our customers and for our community. . . The story is: one of the WONDERFUL ladies who decided to go to Melbourne and come back with the virus, had her sister pick her and her friend from the airport on the day she arrived in Brisbane. The sister, who was then infected with the virus, turned out to be my Mum's colleague. And so my entire family all went to get tested and had ourselves self-isolated. . . We were all terrified for my Mum's health and well-being as she had very severe flu-like symptoms. Thankfully, after an agonising 43hrs of waiting, we received word that everyone, including my Mum, turned out to be negative. . . Mum was ordered to quarantine herself by the QLD Government for another week so we had the rest of the family stay with us and did our own self-quarantining just to be safe. Mum then got a second test done a week later, which turned out to be negative. . . Although it turned out to be a happy ending, it hit way too close to home, literally. . . Hope everyone has a safe and lovely long weekend. Please keep your social distance, please wash or sanitise your hands often and please wear a mask! . .
