11.01.2022 The MWKC Board are pleased to announce the appointment of Brett Worth as our new Head Coach. We have entered into a formal professional agreement that will ensure that Brett is able to spend adequate time & oversight to all levels of club training activities, as well as be present at most racing regattas. Some of his responsibilities will include the following; Brett will provide on the water coaching on Wednesday afternoons as well as Saturday mornings. He will continue to... write & manage programmes for all these squads as well as the newly instigated Tuesday / Thursday morning Sprint sessions (6.00am). Brett is also the coach of the Phoenix programme, which was kicked off this month. He will also have input to the other training sessions already established (Tuesday / Thursday 4.30 squad and others etc..) by either providing specific programmes, advice and applying his experience. Also to ensure all the club coaches benefit, we will continue to organise "coaching clinics" to provide consistent methodology in coaching and so we have a single set of goals to apply at all levels of paddler. His appointment is directed under the club captain's role, and more specifically to work along the board's appointed Coaching coordinator. Both Brett & the board will regularly review the role so as to best fit within the clubs need's and Brett's available time. He will oversee a yet to be re-established Para programme (watch this space) I trust the club will greatly benefit from the vast experience that Brett brings. For any further information or for those who can make positive suggestions, please contact Piet Boer. Piet Boer, MWKC Club Captain.
