23.01.2022 At Marrickville West, we have a very amazing principal, Ms Ling who supports, inspires, and challenges students, staff, teachers and communty to do our very best. Students were eager to contribute to a special surprise banner working during lunch and recess on a colourful note that had to be split into 3 pieces in order to be hung at the school!

22.01.2022 Further useful resources regarding kids and mobiles at school. As per yesterday's post, the school would like all student mobile phone numbers to be registered with the office. Below we also have the Aus Govt eSafety site for additional technological resources. There's also an app children may want to download on there, which can help them make informed decisions around this request - just copy and paste the following link into your browser to access info. https://www.esafety.gov.au/key-issues/esafety-guide

21.01.2022 Parents & students are invited to meet at 8:30am on Friday morning outside the Beauchamp St gate for a small and covid-safe photo action in solidarity with the School Strike for Climate National Day of Action. The theme for the day is Build our Future: Climate Justice and Jobs. We'll have some banners and posters there and you're welcome to be in a photo, or take one to post on social media with #FundOurFutureNotGas and/or #FundClimateJobsNotFracking The demands for the Nati...onal Day of Action are: No public funds for gas and other damaging fossil fuel projects. Instead, recovery funds should be spent on: 1. Resourcing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led solutions that guarantee land rights and care for country 2. The creation of jobs that fast-track solutions to the climate crisis and help communities recover 3. Projects that transition our economy and communities to 100% renewable energy by 2030, through expanded public ownership More info at https://www.schoolstrike4climate.com

There will be a costume parade and students will watch pre filmed cultural performances throughout the day. There can be no shared feast this year, however, students are encouraged to bring an individual lunch that includes favourite foods from their family or cultural traditions. PS costumes do NOT have to be this fancy, a hat or accessory from your country is also good!
