15.01.2022 This new painting speaks of my ambivalence about the gold rush. I am both excited by finding gold in the bush - living in the area of once the richest alluvial goldfields in the world- and yet terribly conscious of the decimation of the indiginous Dja Dja Wurrung population, land and environment. An uncomfortable tension to say the least. 25x25cm Acrylic on Canvas Art on Piper, Kyneton
14.01.2022 This strange time has me focusing on the wonders on my immediate environment. The scraggly old Fryersyown Box Ironbark regrowth forest - once denuded by the gold rush - has a mysterious charm. The burst of spring wildflowers will probably coincide with our release back into community but at present lockdown does not apply to nature's activity. Wattles already! World of Wattle 25x25cm Acrylic on Canvas... Art on Piper, Kyneton (one day!) See more
12.01.2022 I did this painting in the midst of lockdown #1 when social isolation was slightly novel. Finding meaning, space and comfort amidst brewing fear and uncertainty has now become a constant for many. At the risk of over mining a visual metaphor, we still have and share majestic skies. Alas, poor Melbournians - no beach trips. 'Social Isolation' 25x25cm Art on Piper, Kyneton
08.01.2022 It was inevitable Dougal the Schnoodle would make it into more tiny paintings. After all he is the reason I am out in bush each day - with the vibrant greens and late afternoon shadows, and often dramatic skies from reef rock platforms. The Black Dog series has started. Black Dog, Black Sky - Oil on Canvas Black Dog Heading Home - Acrylic on Canvas Both 6X4 inches... Art on Piper, Kyneton, Vic.
06.01.2022 In these ISO times the opportunity to paint is a blessing...despite the closure of gallery outlet. I am captivated by the re -growth on the burnt trees up the road in Fryerstown after a planned burn. Life just keeps pushing through after a scorching. And a more vibrant lush growth emerges. A hope for humanity. 'Life from Death' 25x25cm Acrylic on Canvas
05.01.2022 My love of painting dramatic clouds has become, and will continue to be, somewhat of an obsession. They have a lot of say in our world at present, and are both intricate and sublime. 'The Wait' 25x25cms Art on Piper Gallery,... Kyneton See more
05.01.2022 The paintings I did over lockdown reflect a point in time where things were going pearshaped in Victoria. The studio kept me sane and was a refuge. All that colour in autumn transformed to decaying matter and gave life to flowers. I reflect on what life I want after COVID- what to let flourish and what to prune or pull out. What to nurture and what to let go. Finding the things that give life is the eternal soulish search.
