18.01.2022 Some good news out of the NDIS this morning ... One of the things that just drives people billy berserk with the NDIS is trying to get invoices paid from an old... plan once a new plan has arrived. The NDIA has announced this morning that they will now keep old plans open for 90 days once a new plan has started. This will give participants and providers more time to process invoices for services delivered during the life of the old plan. That's the good news. But the bad news - it only applies from tomorrow. Yeah we know - kinda fits into the Mastermind category of "the bleeding obvious". But it is yet another step in the right direction ... There is more information on the NDIS website - https://www.ndis.gov.au//4354-system-improvement-removing- #NDISMakeItWork (Image description: A picture of the "Mind the Gap" sign from the London Underground. 15.01.2022 Some breaking news out of the NDIS this morning ... Transport! The Minister for the NDIS has announced that NDIS participants will now be able to use their core... funds to pay service providers for transport. The Minister's press release says "From 1 March 2020, NDIS participants will be able to flexibly use their plan’s core support funding to claim service provider costs associated with transporting participants to and from NDIS funded community-based activities. "Providers will be able to claim some of their vehicle running costs when offering transport to a participant in conjunction with the community activities identified in their NDIS plan. These costs which are in addition to the support worker’s time are factored at a per kilometre rate and can be claimed by providers as a separate item as part of the support they are delivering to participants" An updated price guide will be released in the next few weeks with line items and amounts. EDIT: The Minister's press release is now up on the NDIS website - https://www.ndis.gov.au//4318-delivering-ndis-plan-flexibi We know this doesn't have all the info everyone needs so we are trying to get more detail now. Stay tuned. And while we know this doesn't fix all the transport issues for everyone, it is great things things are moving and heading in the right direction ... (Sorry ... we just couldn't help ourselves, we love bad puns) #NDISMakeItWork (Image description: A red rectangle with the words "Breaking News" in white capital letters. Underneath the words you can see the Every Australian Counts logo and the words "NDIS: Make It Work)

01.01.2022 NDIS Annual/regular Review Rollover If you have a decent NDIS plan that meets your needs, and you don’t expect much to change or need greater support over the ...coming year, ask the NDIS to rollover your plan for a year. You then won’t have the stress or cost of gathering reports, attending a review meeting and not knowing whether you’ll get the support you need. Not everyone will be accepted for a 12 month rollover plan (especially if your child is turning 7, or you have a big transition coming) but it’s definitely worth asking if you have a plan that works for you now.
