20.01.2022 A good one on mulch and soil building. Basically: soft mulches like straw etc break down faster, serve as energy source for soil organisms to thrive and therefore release nutrients into soil. It creates Labile soil carbon which is easily available to pass through the cycle and eventually released as a gas into the air. Woody mulches break down slower and contain lignin. Due to their chemical structure, lignin molecules are rigid and very difficult to decompose. When wood is c...ompletely broken down into a fine organic matter, these lignin create a rich dark hommus, is a stable soil carbon, and can stay in the soil for years to centuries, improving soil quality. In summary both work well for mulch purposes, (retain moisture, stop weeds) but once broken down have different purposes. Soft mulch becomes short term soil, woody mulch becomes long term soil. Advice is use both. https://deepgreenpermaculture.com/?s=Mulch&submit=Search

19.01.2022 Soil Bacteria recipe, cool video. Recipe: wash 500g rice in 2L water and keep water. Store water for 7 days. Add 500ml full cream organic milk, store for another 7 days. Keep the liquid whey (2.3L), put in 100L barrel with 2.3L molasses and fill with water. Use 100ml of mixture with 9 L water to water plants https://youtu.be/zsTsnOoXNdk

10.01.2022 The position of my new vegi patch. Gotta get rid of that pile of sticks (not allowed to burn them here apparently ) and then set up some raised garden beds in there. Started up some flower beds at the front, hopefully they all survive, I love them so much

08.01.2022 I forgot about this page! Because we moved house and away from the garden, but now my father's garden kind of lives on anyway! His sculptures make my new garden wonderful and I managed to take many of our old plants with me. I've been putting some effort into an ornamental garden as a fence between us and the neighbors, and now it's time to start a proper vegi patch again!

02.01.2022 Loving my garden #spring so many flowers
