17.01.2022 Spend an hour or two of Fathers Day morning at Old Petrie Town this Sunday. Its the first Sunday of the month which, as always, is Steam Up Sunday where the volunteers in the Vintage Steam and Machinery Association fire up all their steam engines from tiny table top ones to giant steam tractors that run? around the market at dizzying top speed (4km per hour) and even larger stationary steam engines inside the shed chugging steam everywhere. . Also take Dad to the world class ...Fire Museum building just 20 metres away to see the antique fire engines and equipment on display over 2 stories. Speaking of antiques... When you're Father is done with steam and fire, walk another 10 metres to the food and coffee stalls inside Mumford Food Barn for a selection of burgers, Indonesian sates with peanut sauce, noodles, English Breakfasts, waffles, omlettes, fresh juices, German sausages with sauerkraut and mustard, poffertjes (little Dutch pancakes), home made ginger beer, not to mention tea and COFFEE. Once you and Dad have ordered the refreshments, pop in to my little indoor antiques and collectables stall My Mother Had One of Those and show him the blokey stuff just acquired from a farm shed near Beaudesert, including old oil cans and drums, tools, pedal cars, 2 bayonets, old cane fishing creels, cast iron items, sets of antique scales, model of Captain Cook's Endeavour etc and if Dad wants to buy the girls something... estate gold and costume jewellery and antique purses, glassware, lots of unusual and beautiful objects, rare china etc. Bring unwanted gold bits and pieces to sell or trade. 04.01.2022 Hi folks. Please note... Tomorrow 23 August 2020 tge Old Petrie Town Sunday Market will be CLOSED as a precautionary measure amid current covid matters. It seems some permanent shops will be open but Im a little confused as to why them specifically.
