25.01.2022 Busy day today 501 con note books collated and ready for padding. Another busy day tomorrow as we have heaps more books to do. No early mark for us this week

24.01.2022 Today we needed to go to work. One printing press was in pieces on the floor and my bench was stacked high with pages for 4 part carbonless books to be made (only 100 books) The collator behaved beautifully and I had it done in 5 hrs. With some interruptions that required me to turn the handle of the printing press clockwise and then anti clockwise and do it slowly so as not to catch husbands fingers in the machine. For me without looking at my watch to see which is clockwise and which is anti clockwise is a problem. A bit like when I am asked about my right and left. I picture myself in the drivers seat so I can work it out. Oh dear I am a problem sometimes.

23.01.2022 Today was one of those days, I think I needed a sticker on my forehead that said "Do Not Push my Buttons". I felt like I achieved very little as I was on hold to a software company for 45 mins and trying to explain to the guy what I needed. You know one of those calls where you just want to say "can you just listen for a minute?" but maybe that is what he wanted to say to me as we were both trying to get each other to understand what was needed. Guess it didnt help that english wasn't his first language. But I made it through the day and I guess really only upset myself especially when I crossed off only 1 of my planned jobs for the day, everything else I did wasnt on my list. Oh well there's always tomorrow to finish today's jobs.

22.01.2022 Huge week last week. Finished books for a customer who was flying to the US. Bound and packed books to send to NSW. Collated and bound books for Qld and NSW customers and finished binding Forklift books and truck books to keep in stock for online orders. This next week I get to do lots of collating and book making again.

21.01.2022 Recently we have had some enquiries for forms and documents that aren't on the web site. We have lots that aren't up on it so if you need something that isn't there please email or call and we will do our best to help.

21.01.2022 Yesterday was a back breaker as I had 80 books to wire bind for a car rally. We have done this job for several years, However it is always a huge job as each book has to be punched in 6 sections and put together. This task took me quite a while and standing in one place puts extra pressure on the body. It was so good to pack them in boxes and call our customer to say they were ready.

20.01.2022 As my dear old grandpa would say "Its been one of those days that would drive a man to drink!" Well just as well I'm not a man, and also I dont drink, but some days really push all the wrong buttons. My grandpa would have been 113yrs old this week. I remember when he got his first car with turning indicators and I was only a child and reminded him to turn the indicator off after he turned the corner. He politely asked me who was driving the Blood y car? I was helping husband today and kept wanting to put my fingers in to help hold things etc and was reminded of grandpa as husband assured me he had enough hands he didn't need mine in the way. I don't know some people just don't appreciate good help when it's offered.

20.01.2022 Was pleased to be able to help a customer out this week. He was chasing a truck with a forklift prestart checklist book and we had done them for someone else. So we were able to help him overcome the problem. It doesnt hurt to ask as we do all sorts of documents.

19.01.2022 Really crazy how things go, seem to have runs on specific items. This week it has been job cards and prestart books. I was going to take a pic of the big heap on my bench ready to pack and send but realised due the my height would wouldnt be able to see me behind the books and if i made the heap lower so you could see me you would think I hadnt worked hard at all. So I didnt take a pic, maybe next time.

18.01.2022 Yes it is Sunday afternoon and I'm working. We have had a rather busy week and this is the long weekend in Qld that we have all been hanging out for for so long. However I have bought work home to do so just sitting here working away with my pkt of chips and some chocolate and green tea. Not sure what we are having for dinner yet as I haven't thought that far ahead. Enjoy your weekend. I will reappear to work tuesday hopefully somewhat refreshed to handle the last 1/4 of the year

17.01.2022 Today was one of those days when you feel totally frustrated when you look at what you achieved. We did get a heap of envelopes printed, which was something. I got 5 books collated and have 15 more for the same customer to do tomorrow. Today was mostly spent doing quotes and dealing with customers who wanted re quotes of different quantities. And we had a machine breakdown and had to work through finding the problem so it could be fixed. Ahh very frustrating. Oh well there's always tomorrow.

16.01.2022 Monday I get to do my favourite job (it isn't really my favourite) I have 501 consignment note books on my bench to put into consecutive order and pack ready to ship. It is very time consuming and I need to not make any boo boo's

15.01.2022 Surprise order came in a customer who bought 20 truck checklist books in sept has ordered another 45 so it was all stations go yesterday they are printed and ready to collate and covers are printed and laminated and hinged ready for when I collate monday morning. All going to plan I should have them in the freight for monday afternoon. Feels so good when you feel appreciated and that a customer is happy with the goods supplied. the checklist books are available from www.telferprint.com.au

14.01.2022 Custom Job for a customer in FNQ

14.01.2022 Yesterday and today's NCR (no carbon required) were a bit more troublesome than normal. The dry atmosphere causes the paper to build up static and the pages stick together. However i behaved beautifully and just kept putting the doubles back into the collator to get the books done.

14.01.2022 We are currently doing some Calendars for some of our customers. If you are interested in some please call so that we can work out a size and price.

14.01.2022 This week has been a bit crazy and I feel like I have been running in circles. And the truly annoying part is that I didnt finish what I had planned and today was friday. Guess it is all ready and waiting for me for monday

14.01.2022 For those of you who aren't computer savvy or find it a bit of a challenge doing what you want on the www please contact us. We have graphics people who can assist.

13.01.2022 On the whole most jobs are a breeze to do. Well for my part as I dont operate the printing press, I do the post press, collating and book making etc. However the one we printed yesterday and collated today was a challenge. It was quite complex in the way it needed to be collated and bound and really stretched the brain to work out how to get all the pages in the right order and the right way. We will both be so pleased to see the customer pick it up tomorrow.

12.01.2022 We have added a couple of new books to www.telferprint.com.au including the spray books and also the crane checklist and have a couple more to add.

11.01.2022 this week has been one of the craziest weeks at work. Quotes are almost finished and artwork is being signed off on so the presses will run at full speed tomorrow. We have has some requests for a couple of different Prestart Checklist books on the Telfer Print site. So we have printed extra Truck Prestarts with a Crane Lifting arm (Hiab truck) also an Elevated Work Platform Prestart. Both of these we now have in stock but have not stopped for long enough to add them to the www.telferprint.com.au

09.01.2022 Feeling pleased with myself. It looks like I might actually finish most of the jobs I started yesterday. Me being me really gets frustrated that my plans can be changed by something as simple as a customer walking in the door with a rush job. But of course you this is life. I feel so good when I can walk in and put all the completed job boards on my desk ready for invoices and job packets. Funny how sometimes it is the small things that make you feel good.

08.01.2022 Some days you just cant plan, the emails go nuts and the phone keeps ringing and I seem to run back and forth finding job packets that require changes and I write them onto job sheets and just keep piling the job boards onto our graphics people. Then I feel mean and what I think is easy comes in. A business card! So i decide to help I mean how hard can it be. So I take an hr or longer making the design look pretty and print it off and proudly show graphics what I have done t...o help. Oh dear it isnt as easy as it looked. I have centered all the text. I have used a nice curly font. Because the font is fine I have made it too big. And it is to close to the edges. There is no white space. So back I go for another try. Nope still not right. After 4 goes I give up. I have decided graphics is not my thing. I will leave it to the professionals and go and make some more books, surely I cant get in too much trouble doing that! After 15 years I really should have learnt some things I'm just not good at. See more

08.01.2022 We also sometimes get a call from people who have found a form and prefer that we customise it for them. We can do this and they are happy to pay a little more for this service. So if you would like us to customise a form for you please call or email.

08.01.2022 The last couple of days we have been making books. Not sure if you are aware of what goes into making a carbonless book, but here goes. Firstly they are printed on the Offset printer and then collated. These ones we have made have a personalised cover. So this is what is involved in making the covers and books. The covers were printed to the book size and then we cut off a strip to make the spine, it is placed on a strip of cloth tape and then leaving a small gap the rest of ...the cover is also stuck to the tape ( the gap is to allow the cover to open easily without crimping. The covers are put on top of the inside pages and it is off to the stapler where it is stapled on the spine edge. They are then trimmed to finished size and come back for the finishing touches. A ruler is used to determine how wide the tape will need to be put to cover the staples and secure the covers. Then the tape is applied and stretched over the back edge and secured to the back of the book. Now the double sided tape is applied to the writing tablet that goes between the pages so that the impressions made with the pen don't go through to the other sets in the book. So tape is placed on one edge of the tablet that has been scored at a set distance to suit the number of sets or pages in the book. The part with the double sided tape is attached to the back cover of the book and the wider section folded under the first set of pages in the book. One last step to go a sticker is placed inside the front cover. So next time you see some of these books you will maybe appreciate the work that goes into making each book. See more

07.01.2022 Over the past 18 months we have had regular visits from a customer. Her name is Jocelyn and she is an artist preparing a book to celebrate the 85th anniversary. She would come in with pictures of the Sydney Harbour Bridge for us to copy or do some graphic work on pictures. It has been interesting watching her enthusiasm and creativity. Yesterday she came with a copy of her book for us. She had 30 printed and wanted to give one to us as thanks for our help. The bigger original is on display in Brisbane. For me it is so good knowing that she felt we rated in her top 30 people that she felt were an important part of her life. Some people really make you feel special.

06.01.2022 This week we added some new books to our pre printed range on www.telferprint.com.au we added a truck with moffett and a spray log book so check them out and if you know someone who uses these sorts of book a word recommending us would be great.

06.01.2022 This week we made some custom log books, they came up really well

06.01.2022 The last week has been super busy with lots of orders for Job Cards. If we dont have a suitable job card on the site for your business please call as we have others available. You can contact us by phone 074634 9189 or email: [email protected]

05.01.2022 Today, I am making custom prestart books for a customer 80 done and 125 to go.

05.01.2022 This is part of what I did friday. Over the last week I used all of the Light Vehicle checklist books I had in stock. So it was time to stock up. These ones are available from www.telferprint.com.au

05.01.2022 Have done a variety of jobs this week, recipe books, take 5 books, permit to work books and jobs cards. Next week we are doing fixtures books for a golf club and finishing what we didn't get done yesterday. I am enjoying my new collator and can actually walk away from it without it throwing a stropp. The old one I'm sure knew when I was walking away for a min and would stop or shoot the collated pages onto the floor instead of the tray.

03.01.2022 Over the years we have had some really lovely customers. Today I was given the opportunity to see one. He is one of our very early ones from the time when we first started our printing business and in my spare time I would go out and look for new customers. One day after talking to him on the phone about his order he says "Bye, Love You" and hung up. I went out to my husband and told him. We both had a laugh. Today when he came to collect his printing I was curious if he would have the same parting comment. What a let down, he thanked me and said he would see us again next time he needs more printing. Guess you can't win all the time.

02.01.2022 Today we made some custom books to send to NSW. they will leave in tomorrows freight.

01.01.2022 Today was one of those days when I felt like I was chasing myself all day. Finished consignment note books and packed to send to WA. Finished some day books for a Qld customer and packed lots of stickers for another Qld customer. However at the end of the day my collator was still waiting for me and so was the quote that came in. Not sure if I need more hrs in each day or less distractions. So I'll try again tomorrow.

01.01.2022 We have just completed an order for 3 kinds of books with custom covers and service record stickers for a customer. They are now packed and ready to ship to far north qld.

01.01.2022 Today's challenge was to trick the quoting program. It would not let me add a digital product as it decided I could only run it on the offset press. So the program would not accept the information i was adding to calculate a price. It took me a couple of hours but I managed to trick it and got the price i needed. I guess really it doesnt matter how you achieve what you want. So frustrating when the program thinks it knows more and wont do what I want.
