16.01.2022 PS4 NPL TASMANIA TOP OF THE TABLE SEASON OPENER Tasmania’s top tier football competition (PS4 NPL TASMANIA) kicks off this Friday night with a mouth-watering opening night at the home of football, KGV Football Park. The top two from 2015 face off in an enthralling season opener, it was the rivalry that intrigued the entire Tasmanian football world in 2015 and it appears to have only blossomed ahead of the state league’s best season yet. ... Olympia FC Warriors and South Hobart fought out a thrilling, see-sawing title race last year that saw Olympia eventually crowned champions on the season’s final day. The pair played a number of classic clashes throughout the season but their start to 2016 is set to be even more explosive. Both clubs are stronger than last year with South Hobart luring talented local recruits in Jack Turner from Kingborough Lions, James Wilson from Northern Rangers as well as the return of dynamic clubmen in Frenchman Loic Feral and attacking midfielder Nick Morton. Olympia FC Warriors alternatively have replaced seven departing 2015 championship players with interstate and overseas superstars. The club have made some highly publicised coups, recruiting three ex Perth Glory dynamos in defender Jacob Collard, midfielder Lawrence Shuruma and forward Bor Bor Sam, as well as landing Canadian defender Zac Drake. Olympia Coach Glen McNeill and South Hobart Coach Ken Morton will be available for interview to discuss the exciting season opener.

01.01.2022 First Clarence United Home Game to Carry Extra Significance Competition newcomers Clarence United registered their first victory over Northern Rangers last week but face a tough task trying to make it back to back wins when they play host to an undefeated Hobart Zebras side at Wentworth Park on Saturday evening. It’s an exciting occasion for Clarence as top flight football makes a welcome return to Wentworth Park for the first time this year, a ground that opposition sides ha...ve historically not enjoyed travelling to. If Clarence are to cause the upset they will be hoping a strong vocal home crowd can help provide them an advantage as they look to build momentum following their breakthrough victory last week. The game will also carry extra significance as it is the Luke Cripps Memorial Shield game, played in memoriam of the former Clarence and Zebra’s player who died tragically in 2012. Cripps was a popular player at both clubs and with a number of teammates playing on either side of this contest, it is sure to be a meaningful clash. After looking defensively solid against Devonport in week 1 Clarence played an open game up against Northern Rangers and showed there is more to this side than dour workmanlike defence. Nick Naden looks a star of the league playing in behind the strong target man Adam Hedge, whilst Andrew Robb played a blinder down the right hand side and should provide Mattias Toghill with something to think about as he returns to play against his former club. English imports George Hallard and Robert Heath have also looked good and there is growing optimism that Clarence could surprise a few more teams this year. Zebras meanwhile will look to bounce back after their elimination from the Lakoseljac Cup at the hands of South Hobart earlier this week and continue their unbeaten start in the league. Star midfield Jayden Hey has been cleared of any serious damage to his knee whilst with Tyler Harrison and Graham Wright are set to arrive next week to bolster an already strong squad that should be able to give the league title a strong push in 2016.
