25.01.2022 My first class (Homeschool Public Speaking Course for Kids) on a Monday morning is a challenge, with several neurodivergent participantspeople with a brain that functions in ways different from society’s standard of typical. Just yesterday morning, while reading the news about Elon Musk revealing he has Asperger's syndrome, I was shocked and disappointed that the BBC had described it as a lifelong 'disability'. Since Asperger's brings with it so many positive traits and attr...ibutesElon Muskcase in point. Their information was supposedly sourced from Autism.org.ukeven more shocking. Although, by the evening they had edited it to a lifelong 'condition'. I have one student, who on the surface, appears to be incapable of completing some of the course tasks. However, because I know him from my Confident Kids Course last term, I know full well that he will be able to deliver a talk beautifully. I know that despite individual challenges and struggles in certain areas, all my students will shine brightly in other areas of the course. I'm excited for these moments . On a related note, I'm thrilled that Planet Neurodivergent, the brainchild of a good friend of mine is ranked in the 'Top 25 Neurodiversity Blogs and Websites To Follow in 2021'! https://blog.feedspot.com/neurodiversity_blogs/

13.01.2022 I'm prepping for a training session tomorrow with Rio Tinto and excited to be sharing my favourite topic with themreading nonverbal behaviour. They will learn how to identify behaviours which indicate stress, discomfort and other negative emotion. Putting them in a better position to understand the feelings of people they interact with and empowering them to respond better. #nonverbalcommunication #readingbodylanguage

10.01.2022 Great news! Last year, my blog was rated in the top five body language blogs on the web. I've been concerned I'd lose my spot as I've been so busy I haven't posted as many articles. But...woohoo, it's updated and I'm still in the top five for 2021! I think another celebration is in order. https://blog.feedspot.com/body_language_blogs/

02.01.2022 I had some amazing news, via email, whilst going home on the train last night, after my public speaking class. I wanted to squeal, run round and jump up and down but couldn’t as I was in public . I felt like my emotion was about to burst out of me. Excitement is the emotion I struggle to control the mostI guess it could be worse. 20 minutes later, husband picked me up from the station with a bottle of Bollinger . Cheers!... I won’t make any public announcements yet or for a long time . But it’s ultra exciting for me, it’s work related and something I’ve wanted for a few years .
