23.01.2022 Do you have an old iPad or iPad mini gathering dust in the back of the cupboard? With our growing list of teams (currently at 15!), the Club is hunting for WiFi... and HotSpot-enabled iPads for live scoring. If you have one laying around and could spare it, the Club would love to take it off your hands. It would be most appreciated. We are actively applying for grants but our Club is growing faster than we can apply for them. If you can help us out, please contact the Club via [email protected] or text/call me on 0408367289. Thank you. Clayton Hawkins (President)

20.01.2022 SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Junior Coordinators Appointed Ethan Hawkins has been appointed Junior Development Officer (JDO) and Alana Woodhouse has been re-appointed ...as Junior Liaison Coordinator (JLC) for the 2020/2021 season. We congratulate them both on these leadership positions and welcome them as Ex-Officio members of the Committee of Management. Ethan (known in the Club as Hawk or EJ) has played right through our junior programs for 12 years. He began in the former Milo cricket programs as a 6 year old and then played through U13s, U15s, and U17s, finishing up last season as an overage U17 player. During this time he has played four seasons of turf cricket in second grade and matches with Myalla Cricket Club. Ethan also represented the Club in the Cricket North West U16 team. Last season he led the Master Blaster program on top of volunteering in that program for the last three years. Ethan, now 18, understands how the junior programs work. He is very organised, supportive, and well-respected in the Club. Ethan will oversee all junior programs this season, including the Woolworths' Blast and Primary School programs, and assist junior players on their pathways whether they are playing in junior programs or in any of our senior teams in Cricket North West or Burnie Cricket League competitions. Alana (aka Woody) was our inaugural JLC last season. Woody is not only an integral member of our Female First Grade team but is also a passionate junior cricket 'Mum'. Woody's role sees her work with families to support and encourage volunteering and run events targeted at families. Woody works with coaches to ensure that they have the volunteer resources that they need and to build a social network of well-connected families. Woody is the integral link between the needs of families of junior players and the Club. Hawk and Woody will work closely together to build a homely club for all junior players, coaches, and families. The Club wishes them well for the season.

11.01.2022 INAUGURAL AGM OUTCOMES AND WHERE TO FROM HERE: Welcome to the new Wynyard and Districts Cricket Club Inc. (WDCC)* - aka the Wynyard Tigers! Last night the membe...rships of Myalla Cricket Club (MCC) and Wynyard Cricket Club (WCC) voted on an array of motions at the inaugural AGM of the Wynyard and Districts Cricket Club Inc. (WDCC). First, we sincerely thank WCC Life Member and former President Bill Lee for chairing this inaugural meeting. His expertise in navigating this process and all of the background advice provided has been invaluable. We had a great roll-up of 30 people. Bill welcomed everyone. He acknowledged the Life Members of both clubs who now, importantly, become Life Members of the WDCC. We acknowledged the attendance of Anthony Haneveer (President of the BCL) and Alex King and James Jennings from Cricket Tasmania. The constitution was adopted unanimously. Elections were held for office bearers. The outcomes are as follows: President: Clayton J Hawkins (WCC) Senior VP: Jason Beswick (MCC) VP: David Pendlebury (WCC) Treasurer: Michael Stewart (new) Secretary: Alanna Smith (WCC) General: Paul Hancock (MCC), Ashley Jones (MCC), Annie Pendlebury (WCC), Matt Kinch (WCC). The election of patrons led to the appointment of six patrons. Three representing each of WCC and MCC. WCC currently has four patrons and MCC has two. This process provided an even distribution of expertise and acknowledgement as we work through this amalgamation. The inaugural patrons for WDCC are Les Allen, Graeme Hutchison, Ian King, Rhys London, Paul Plunkett, and Roxley Snare. The attendees also voted, as part of general business, to endorse the nickname of the WDCC as the Wynyard Tigers and adopt the formal primary colours of Royal Blue, Yellow, and Black (a combination of WCC and MCC colours). Where to from here for the organisation (short-term actions): - Formal application to the State Government for the creation of WDCC - Formal winding up of MCC and WCC - Finalisation of logos and uniform design - Appointments of coaches, JDO, JLC, FDO etc. (news coming) - Consolidation of MyCricket records - Admission of WDCC to Cricket North West and Burnie Cricket League competitions in place of MCC and WCC. - Merger of WCC and MCC Facebook pages. Thank you to The Barracks Restaurant for hosting us. *subject to approval by the State Government. Onwards and upwards.
