The Myall Coast Chamber of Commerce & Tourism and Myall Times have begun a campaign to encourage locals and visit...ors to Eat, Play, Shop & Stay local. The campaign has been launched in direct response to the coronavirus crisis which has seen a number of businesses close their doors and many jobs lots across the region. "First it was the bushfires before and during the Christmas holiday season, then Covid struck and as locals are well aware, Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens turned into virtual ghost towns," said Myall Coast Chamber of Commerce President Graham Lang. "While it was essential on a health basis, to follow all the lock-down measures, which the community did so well, losing the tourism dollar, especially over the Easter period, has cost our local businesses dearly." The colourful flyers are being delivered to businesses and service operators across the region ahead of the July school holidays. It's a campaign the Chamber hopes will continue to keep people shopping local and using local services. "You don't have to take to the highway to do your shopping or service your car, we have great businesses right here in town - so lets stay local and keep our locals in jobs."
